I stayed at this hotel for one night as I was attending a concert. I was looking for a hotel near Dusseldorf Hauptbahnhof, so I got this one. It was a 10 minute walk from the station in a bit of a boring area.
I arrived pretty early and I knew the room wouldn't be ready but I wanted to check in. The person at the desk was not extremely friendly, but in the end I was checked in and told to get the key to the room later (I would only have to mention my name).
When I arrived at the hotel after the concert, I told the reception I had checked in in the morning but had not yet received a key. At first they gave me a hard time, giving me strange looks and at one point they even said: 'There are no rooms available' - I said I already paid for one but didn't get the key yet. It took a while for them to realise there WAS a room (maybe it was the language problem) and they gave me a key.
The room itself was ok, not dirty or clean, a little bit shabby looking, but all in all it was ok. There was no noise from the street just the room next to mine.
The next morning I decided to check out the 'breakfast buffet', there were only a few tables and soon there were no seats left and people that were waiting for a table would stare everyone away. The reception lady was taking care of the breakfast on her own which explains the shortage of bread but not the inclusion of horrible stale bread. The selection of food was ok, different types of meat, some fruit, cereal, coffee, orange juice, milk and some vegetables. I was wondering why the yoghurts weren't cooled.
At check out the reception lady was surprisingly friendly.
All in all not the worst hotel ever. It really is ok if you don't pay too much and planning on staying for one night and if you need to be close to the main train station.
