Beware of hidden costs! We booked our 2 rooms for 10 days through a travel agent. According to the hotel's website and several advertisements elsewhere on the internet, breakfast is free of charge. Wrong! We were charged 32 euros for each of the 10 days after we checked out of our hotel. We did not sign a charge slip nor did they tell us at anytime we were going to be charged for the meals. We tried to dispute the charges but were told these were a legitimate charge by our credit card company. So, we feel like we were ripped off by the hotel. Before you check into this hotel and eat breakfast there, make sure that it actually is free or you will wind up with a large surprising bill when you get your credit card bill.

The rooms were quite small although the bedding nice and clean . The carpets were dirty. We were told the staff were english speaking not true. As we arrived about 9.30 pm and wanted to eat we were told the resturant was open until 11.30 pm we went to eat at 10pm and were told 10minutes to closing. I would not stay here again and would not recomend it.

As a business traveller who stays in Dusseldorf 3-4 times a year the Hotel Am Spichernplatz is as with many of Dusseldorf's town centre hotels plain and simple

Situated in a good position in the centre of town you are very close to some nice restaurants and to some good traditional German pubs

The hotel itself is a little overpriced for what you get
The rooms are small and simple but clean and suitable for a couple of nights

The manager is very approachable and gives a warm welcome

No bar as such but the reception area doubles as a meeting point where the manager is happy to serve beer and drinks to all guests

The breakfast is a good selection of cold meats and yoghurts with the essential hot and cold drinks to compliment

As a hotel its probably not one I would rush back to but it does the job for an overnight stay
