“UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES - DO NOT STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

Stayed there during the recent GIFA Expo. Wake up at 6:03am every morning with the sound of jet engines roaring off the runway.
Stayed in the "loft" building - up several flights of stairs, narrow winding dangerous stairway to my room on the roof line. NO ELEVATOR/NO LIFT. NO A/C - no ventilation. No one to carry your bags. VERY HOT and uncomfortable. Tiny bed, tiny shower, tiny bathroom, tiny room, etc. No cover between the building and the main building - got wet when it rained. NO BUSINESS CENTER for printing boarding passes, etc. Yellowed small towels that were about as thick as paper towel. Rough toilet paper. No soap provided for the shower. Didn't change sheets during the week - only a bottom sheet and a winter cover. Breakfast of cold cut meats and cheese. Restaurant very expensive, limited menu, no sandwiches or burgers, unfriendly staff at times. Smell of smoke in the rooms. Smell of sewer out on the veranda. One old fashioned tube TV - one English channel of the BBC. Hey, the internet service was good and quick - had to pay for it...

“Awful, unwelcoming, noisy, basic AVOID AVOID AVOID”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

Stayed here during Exhibition time and the price was frankly RIDICULOUS for what you get. For starters they moved me to here from its "sister" hotel without notice when I arrived there. Their reason was that I said I MAY POSSIBLY need to check in late. They took it upon themselves to then just move me without warning and didnt tell me until I pull up at reception with my cases!!!!
When I got the garage was full / shut and the recetion just hrugged an said "park in the road then" The room was clean but very basic - no coffee / tea for example and no early breakfast in the room - although it is supposed to be an "airport hotel"
and finally THE NOISE OF THE PLANES TAKING OFF!!!!! I have stayed at lots of business hotels right on the airport quieter and cheaper than this place.!!
AVOID - Unless it is absolutely the last resort

“Great location if going to Exhibition. Basic, clean hotel, no frills.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

We stayed at the Air Hotel Wartburg when going to an exhibition a the Messe. Every other hotel in the area was full anyway, but they were ridiculously expensive, and overpriced.
Of course there are better hotels on Dusseldorf, but to be fair to the Air Hotel Wartburg, our room was very clean and comfortable, the staff were very nice indeed, and yes, they spoke English. It is a bit awkward to get around the hotel with suitcases as it is strange layout, and there are no ramps, but we managed. Whilst the breakfast was not fantastic, it was very pleasant and more than adequate. The hotel has a small bar area which we used, and the young lady behind the bar had a lovely sense of humour, better than some of the sour faced bar people we have experienced even at some expensive hotels. It certyainly does help to have a smile from someone at the end of a long day.
The walk between the main hotel and the other rooms at the back of the hotel is not particularly pleasant, and I agree. and it all looks very 'tired', but we were not staying in the courtyard, and as we said the room itself was pleasant. Whilst there I also needed an iron, and one was brought to our room within 5 mins, and delivered with a smile.
As it is so close to airport the planes area bit noisy, but it wasn't too bad, and in the night there was nothing anyway.
Apparently there is an issue with internet problems at the hotel, but the staff do try to sort it out for you.
There is a lovely Greek restaurant very near to the hotel too, and I can recommend the food there, very nice indeed!

In summary, you can stay in better hotels of course, but because of the Messe in Dusseldorf, everywhere else is so very expensive. This was cheapest in area, and even this was 185 Euros per night. Would I stay again? Yes. Would I stay a week? Probably not, but for one or two nights it was very acceptable.

“If you are a nonsmoker, just run away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2011

I booked in there as I was given the information its the hotel based directly at the airport. In a way, it is, but its unfortunately based on the other side of the runway. having arrived in the evening, no shuttle had been offered and I had to take taxi and had to do it gain for my early morning flight. i know now its well worth paying some 30 euros more and stay at the airport as there is couple of places in there.
But i would not mind that so much. The worst think I found out at the place was its the hotel for smokers. If you dont smoke, dont go there. i was shown 2 rowns, an both of them smelled heavily. I chose the second and in the morning all of my belongings smelled as well, which is not a good sign if you are awaited at the meeting... So my message for smokers - its got old but functional furniture and is realively clean with no traffic at least at night from 2200 to 530. And my message to the others: Dont even think about this place.

“Good enough hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2010

This is a No Frills-hotel, but nevertheless it is pretty good if you only need to stay there for one or two nights.
The hotel isn't expensive and is close to Dusseldorf International Airport, which means that you can sometimes hear airplanes fly over, but not very often and the noise isn't that loud (at least it wasn't when I stayed there).

The rooms are spacious and quiet.
The bathrooms are not as spacious, but the level of cleanliness is good.

The restaurant is also suprisingly good and you can have a nice diner there.
