“Great location if going to Exhibition. Basic, clean hotel, no frills.”
We stayed at the Air Hotel Wartburg when going to an exhibition a the Messe. Every other hotel in the area was full anyway, but they were ridiculously expensive, and overpriced.
Of course there are better hotels on Dusseldorf, but to be fair to the Air Hotel Wartburg, our room was very clean and comfortable, the staff were very nice indeed, and yes, they spoke English. It is a bit awkward to get around the hotel with suitcases as it is strange layout, and there are no ramps, but we managed. Whilst the breakfast was not fantastic, it was very pleasant and more than adequate. The hotel has a small bar area which we used, and the young lady behind the bar had a lovely sense of humour, better than some of the sour faced bar people we have experienced even at some expensive hotels. It certyainly does help to have a smile from someone at the end of a long day.
The walk between the main hotel and the other rooms at the back of the hotel is not particularly pleasant, and I agree. and it all looks very 'tired', but we were not staying in the courtyard, and as we said the room itself was pleasant. Whilst there I also needed an iron, and one was brought to our room within 5 mins, and delivered with a smile.
As it is so close to airport the planes area bit noisy, but it wasn't too bad, and in the night there was nothing anyway.
Apparently there is an issue with internet problems at the hotel, but the staff do try to sort it out for you.
There is a lovely Greek restaurant very near to the hotel too, and I can recommend the food there, very nice indeed!
In summary, you can stay in better hotels of course, but because of the Messe in Dusseldorf, everywhere else is so very expensive. This was cheapest in area, and even this was 185 Euros per night. Would I stay again? Yes. Would I stay a week? Probably not, but for one or two nights it was very acceptable.
