“The human factor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2011

We stayed at the Four Points Düsseldorf during Eurovision Song Contest in May for 5 nights using our Starwood points.

Basically, the hotel is a solid 3* by American standards.
The rooms are small but efficient with very small restrooms.

That being said, the hotel has significant extras that added a lot to our stay and elevated our experience there:
* The hotel has an arrangement with a very close by gym (Fitness First) that allows a
daily pass for only 6Euros.
The gym is a full service gym and is much more than a hotel gym (towel service is
included in the price of the pass).
* Free mini bar that includes 2 bottles of water, coke and orange juice.
Yes, free. And they will replenish the mini bar daily.
* Free wi-fi.
That was a real treat. You just need to get a new user name and password on a daily
basis.

Location wise, the hotel is a stone throw away from famous Konigsallee.
Generally speaking, Düsseldorf is a walking distance city and the hotel's location is very convenient to all places of interest.

All-in-all, what made our stay at the Four Points Düsseldorf was the front desk team.
They are a kind, courteous and friendly group of people.
Ms. Christiane Emam and Ms. S. Radikte were especially helpful in giving good information of nearby restaurants and bars.

Some tips:
* Ni Na Wa is an excellent sushi place (10 minutes walk from the hotel). They also have
a noddle joint a cross the street.
Prices are reasonable especially if you consider how weak the Dollar is against the
Euro.
* Most businesses work with cash only!
Strangely enough, that includes restaurants and bars.
You should be prepared with enough cash in advance as withdrawals carry a hefty
fee over the exchange rate.
* WineKomissar is a great wine bar in side the Ko Gallery.
Sadly, they carry no German wines but their Italian and Austrian selections are very
good. They also offer a cheese and meat plates that make them a cool place for a light
lunch.
* For German wines don't miss Movenpick wine store on Hertzogstrasse (short walk
away from the hotel).
The selection is wide and the prices are ridiculously low in comparison to the US.

“Friendly staff, pretty good location, would recommend...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2011

Staff were fantastic. We were in Dusseldorf for Eurovision and they were helpful, informative and kind. The room was good. Clean, tidy, good beds and quilts, TV, all the amenities that you would associate with a 4 star hotel. The views are non-existent so don't open your window expecting anything great! The location is okay. A 10 minute stride to the main station. A 15 to 20 minute stroll to the old town. If you can get a good rate then go for it. We paid over the odds as there was little availability in the city. I would stay here again as we felt the accommodation was safe, clean and friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher level road side.

“Excellent hotel, great staff, reasonable prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2011

I stayed in the Four Points last week, as some family is visiting from Asia.
I wanted to show them Düsseldorf and Köln, which are two wonderful towns to visit.
When we arrived the frontoffice staff was very kind and friendly. She pointed out that due to the marathon, part of the inner city would be closed for traffic, so i should park my car on the other side of the main street close to the hotel.
The room was very nice, we were upgraded to the Executive floor, and had a huge room with separate sitting- and bedroom. Drinks in the minibar were for free (water, coke and juice) and the wifi internet was for free as well. The room even had a nice, and pretty large balcony with chairs!
Location is pretty good, walking distance to shops, with the Königsallee about 10-15 minutes walk.
The staff is really incredibly friendly, our key did not work properly, so the frontoffice lady went up with us right away to open the door.
We will absolutely come back.

Room Tip: Starwood Gold, try to get a 4th floor corner room

“Great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2011

Stayed at the Four Points on a business trip to Dusseldorf on the recommendation of a work colleague.
His description of the hotel is that is basic but is in a great location and that about sums up the hotel, apart from the fact that I found the staff to be great.
One thing that did surprise me was that they advertise a 'free mini bar' in your room. I'm not sure whether or not it really matters but to me a 'bar' suggests that there may be a beer or two waiting in there .... there wasn't, just a few soft drinks.
There are lots of restaurants in the area so there is plenty of choices of dining options which is really needed as the hotel itself does not have a restaurant and hence no room service either. It does however, have a breakfast room (managed by lovely staff) and a small bar situated next to (and run by the nice people that were on duty at) the hotel's reception desk.
Another downer is that there is no Gym. You have the opportunity to use the facilities of a local gymnasium situated about a block away at a discounted but still expensive rate.
Would I stay there again? Not sure, it's not that bad but there is a lot better.

“Great location, very mediocre hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2011

I had just returned from a 2 night stay at Four point. I had booked
the hotel before I actually read reviews on Tripadvizor. Figured since
it's 4 star Starwood hotel it should be good. And price was really good. After
reading reviews I got scared. I don't mind budget hotels as long as
they are clean. I emailed the hotel stating that I have read really
negative reviews and would appreciate it if they would make sure that
my room is very clean and smells good, clean bathrooms and linens and
that it's quiet. I got an email promising me clean quiet room.
As I checked in I was told that I was upgraded in to
a comfort room on the top floor. As I was walking to my room, I
already did not like what I saw. Filthy carpet and dirty beat up walls in the hallway
gave me the creeps. In the room carpet was even more dirty then in the
hallway. I was afraid to step on it. However the rest was acceptable.
Room was quite large, bedding was clean and bathroom was spotless.
Huge private balcony outside and even bathrobe and slippers.
Large bed was made out of 2 single beds which were not connected
together. When by accident at night I rolled in to the middle between beds, they
just rolled apart and I almost ended up on the floor. So I had to
secure myself with pillows on both sides to create boundaries which was
super uncomfortable. Sitting area, consisting of a sofa and an
armchair were very dirty as well.
I know they tried to comply with my request by making sure there is a
clean bedding and clean bathroom but I was really hoping for better
service and much cleaner carpets. Thank god I did not have to spend
any more time at the hotel. I did not have breakfast, cause not only
it's extremely overpriced, but if rooms and hallways as so filthy, how
filthy is the kitchen or preparation facilities? I would be afraid to
eat there.

Dear Kisyulja06,

thank you for your review of your stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Central Düsseldorf. Unfortunately you were not satisfied with the conditions of the hotel.

We know about the condition of our carpets and upholstery. Although the equipment is at some point wear and tear, we clean them frequently with special cleaning.
As we already confirmed to you, we are proceeding with our management company to get a renovation in the near future.

We are very sorry for your disappointing experience at our hotel and hope that you will give us a second chance if you return to Düsseldorf.
