As business hotels go in large cities the Renaissance Duesseldorf is pretty typical. We spent two nights at the hotel during the famous "Boot" show at the nearby exhibition centre. Consequently the hotel was pretty full.
Here's what we liked: taxis outside the hotel at all times, close proximity to the exhibition centre and airport, easy parking at an onsite, underground, secure carpark, the friendly porter who offered to help us with our bags, the size of the rooms, a large and secure safe in the room, a lovely powerful shower, plenty of towels in the room, great selection of TV channels, very friendly staff in the bar and restaurant and the food quality and choice.
What we didn't like: service at Reception. We appeared to be the only guests who believed in queuing but our irritation at that was only made worse by long queues and only one person on Reception. No apology either for keeping us waiting. Check-in took an unusually long time so when I went down to arrange internet access I was gone for so long (queuing behind people checking in) that my husband had started to wonder where I'd gone. That was another thing we were not impressed with - having to pay 12Euros PER DAY for weak internet access. The hotel is not cheap but there was no nice touch like a robe in the room. The air conditioning in the room was poor and we switched it off at night as it was quite noisy, but the room remained hot and stuffy even in chilly January.
We were here on business so the hotel was chosen for us by my company but if I had the choice, I'd look to stay somewhere else.
