“Four BBC channels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

From the outside the hotel does not look very inviting as the area seems a little run down. However the prices are very reasonable, quite a bargain when you see what you get. The two floor suite I got was a little noisy as you could hear the trains from the nearby station. however the room was very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Movies on demand, and Internet was included in the room price and also this is the first German Hotel I've stayed in that had 5 English TV Chanels - CNN, BBC World, BBC1, BBC2, CBBC (which changed to BBC3 After 7pm).
I ordered room service from the restaurant, which was very nice, and Breakfast ticked all the boxes also.

“Good option for consideration”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I use this hotel frequently now and so after several overnight stays here is my verdict.

It is located approx 10 min walk from the harbour and 30 mins walk to the old town. A tram will get you there in 5 mins for 1.40euro.
The hotel has parking available.

The staff I have always found to be friendly, helpful and professional. On my first ever visit there had been aroblem with the booking by my agent and the hotel reception could not have been more helpful.
Check in is always easy and efficient.

The rooms are recently refurbished and very nice. Even the standard rooms have large flat tv, water and coffee machines. There are a mixture of tv channels for many nationalities.
The rooms are always very clean and the bed comfortable.
The suites on the top floor have bedrooms on a mezanene level with a sitting area and bathroom on the first floor.

There is a little noise from the local trains and trams but it is not very loud so only a real issue for light sleepers.

Evening meals are traditionally german fare with daily specials. They are always good quality as to is the restaurant service from the friendly staff.

Breakfast has a good self service selection, its not great but its plenty good enough. The main issue is that it tends to get very busy so younare best to be in early to avoid the chaos that can make it hard to get a table.

The hotel offers entry to a small gym across from the hotel and there is a tram stop to get you to the centre of the city close to the hotel reception.

Free wifi is offered during your stay. It ok for non critical stuff but it does seem to get slower during the evening and cannot be relied on for any critical work required.

Room Tip: Rear of the hotel

“Good location with good transport options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My wife and I stayed in this hotel and the start and end of our trip. This hotel is the secret 4* hotel on lastminute.com and we got a good rate compared to on the website. It was advertised as near media city on lastminute.com, which I would say was a bit of a stretch.
We arrived early morning and our reservation was not until that night. However the receptionist gave us a room (even though it was a twin) straight away. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel which goes to the city centre and the main railway station and there is a train station a 1 minute walk from the hotel, where the S11 train directly to the airport stops.
Both times we stayed we were given rooms on the first floor which were advertised as being recently renovated. They were nice clean rooms to a good modern standard. Both my wife and i thought the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom and amenities provided were both of good quality staff were friendly and there were free umbrellas at reception for guests to use and christmas cookies!. As others have commented there was free wifi in the rooms which was very useful, there is also a computer terminal for guests to use in the lobby.

There are only two negatives. Breakfast wasn't included in the room rate and the charge was 17euro, I thought this was excessive!! Also the tram can cause a bit of noise in the rooms at the front, we didn't mind at all but some people (light sleepers) might find this annoying. The Hotel did provide earplugs on the bedside table so they obviously know this is an issue!
Overall a very good stay with friendly, helpful staff. I would recommend this hotel and would use this hotel again if returning to Dusseldorf.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter, tram makes a bit of noise at the front

“Very good value, good location- conform to sample & as described!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012 via mobile

Thought it was in a great location within meters of train to the airport and beyond as well as tram across the road. Staff polite & helpful, rooms clean and cozy and very good value, perfect for a night or two
