We initially decided to stay here for two nights and ended up staying for four. We didn't quite get what we had booked but we left feeling satisfied that the hotel more than made up for any errors or dissatisfaction we had had with their failing to meet the package we had booked. The hotel room we had was spacious with extra chairs to sit in, the decor stylish and the bathroom beautifully appointed. Despite a bit of wear in the hallways, no doubt from large suitcases being moved - the rooms showed absolutely no signs of wear and tear and were a delight to lounge around in. It was great to soak in the bath, whilst being able to watch TV with your own remote control - different to the one in the main bedroom. Housekeeping did come and clean our room when we called to ask them to clean it - but when we left the electronic sign on they didn't until we turned the sign off. Housekeeping were also a little intrusive in that we put the "do not disturb" sign on and they decided to come knocking on our door to see if we wanted our room cleaned.
If you're tired of lounging in your room and want somewhere else to hang there is the "living room" downstairs refreshments such as espresso and a selection of teas and always fresh fruit are always available - just like you would find at home.
If you're not sure what to do or where to go there is also the personal assistant desk in the living room to ask for helpful advice, or to assist you in booking a rental vehicle, or basically where is what in Dusseldorf. Malte in particular was friendly and helpful.
For shopping: the location is right on the doorstep of Konigsallee, the upmarket boutique shopping area of the city, but also on the edge of the Altstadt (Old City) and less than a few minutes walk from a large variety of department stores (including one right across the road).
For walking: parks are almost across the road, and walking through the Altstadt down and along the river is wonderful.
There are also some really good restaurants close by, and the five course dinner we had at the hotel's brasserie restaurant was truly great value for money. The breakfasts were very good and the wait staff were very attentive.
A taxi from the the airport to the hotel is only 20 Euros (one way) - alternatively you can book a limousine with the hotel for more than 5 times that price. The choice is yours.
There appear to be some road works going on at the moment across the road from the main entrance to the hotel - somewhat diminishing the outlook from the city view rooms -but this does not affect you if you choose a courtyard facing room.

Dear guest,
Thank you very much for choosing the Breidenbacher Hof, a Capella hotel, as your residence in September this year!
It was our pleasure to accommodate you and, even more, to make you feel like being at home in a relaxing and warm atmosphere.
We appreciate your most detailed description of your stay with us, which reflects the range of opportunities our guests have to enjoy their time being with us in the centre of the lively and cosmopolitan Duesseldorf city centre.
However, we appreciate your constructive criticism regarding the housekeeping, which should have been more sensitive. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused and for our initial failure to provide the package you had booked. We always strive not to only meet but to exceed our guest’s expectations. Therefore we are happy to read that we were able to provide even more than expected to make up for the errors.
Again, thank you for taking the time to report about your visit. Please always be welcome at the Breidenbacher Hof and let us know if there is anything we can do for you as we appreciate you as a valued customer.
Kind regards,
Cyrus Heydarian
