“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2007

Stayed here for one night on business. Because my flights to Dortmund had changed, my reservation had been incorrectly cancelled by my own company. However, front desk sorted everything quickly and helpfully and booked me into a wonderful huge suite type room. I really couldn't fault it. There was a bar, two sofas a desk in the main room, a smaller bedroom with a TV and an excellent bathroom. The only fault I could find was having a single duvet for a double bed which was odd... oh and while the room was very reasonably priced (at €70) breakfast was another €15 which was a bit steep.
It was a five minute walk into the centre of town and it is right next to the railway station (not that you'd actually know that unless you had a room on that side of the building).
Very nice stay.

“Good hotel - easy walking distance of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2007

I have stayed in several of the newer NH hotels around Europe, and this one was similar to the others.
Check in was friendly and relatively quick. The room was very good - a bed area, a lounge area, and kitchenette, with the bathroom separated by sliding doors from the bed and lounge areas.
Wireless LAN was expensive as usual, but very reliable.
The thermostat on the air conditioning in my room didn't seem to work so, whilst the fan was buzzing the temperature seemed to remain constantly warm. Consequently I kept the window open most of the time. This was a mistake (but with the air conditioning no option) as the room overlooked the railway station and whilst I am a heavy sleeper, the announcements in the morning and the trains themselves kept waking me up. The curtains were quite thin and also let a fair amount of light in the room.
The room seemed clean and new, and was - as such - very comfortable. It is only 10 minutes walk into town. For a beer in the evenings I went to the Irish Pub further up Koenigswall and to the Boomerang Bar. I would definitely recommend the latter.
I would stay again at this hotel because the rooms were a good size, and the breakfast buffet was also very good.

“excellent value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2007

The hotel is situated at one of Dortmund big boulevards in close proximity to the city center (500m) and the Hauptbahnhof (trainstation). However, we never experienced any noise from the station in the room.

The big plus for this hotel are certainly the rooms. Entering you have a separate room with bar/kitchen (including fridge and microwave), a quite large sitting area with leather sofa and working desk.

Bath -and bedroom are normal size, both areas have sliding doors in case you need privacy. Furniture has a rather modern feel to it and it seems that the hotel has been renovated not so long ago.

A nice extra is the small, but clean and cosy, spa area on the 7th floor. There's a sauna, steam- and tanningroom.

The hotelparking is rather cheap. We paid 6€ /day.

Overall, this hotel is excellent value for money. And as far as the city of Dortmund goes, we were pleasantly surprised !

“Great Room & Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2007

I have just returned from a weekend stay at the NH Dortmund. Overall Quite happy with the NH.
On the positives:
- The room was an impressive size for the price with a large lounge/dinner area, clean, nice enough bathroom, every facility you would expect and a comfortable bed.
- The Hotel is a short walk to the shopping centre and only a short walk the other way to a strange sort of area of town.
- Friendly staff, reception and cleaners
- Allowed to check in early
On the negatives
- No babysitter available as advertised
- Failed to provide 2nd bed for 2 year old that was requested before travel.
- Do not let your 2 year old near the TV remote or you could be paying for the pay-per-view German adult entertainment (this is my story and I am sticking to it!)
I would stay at the hotel again if I was going back to Dortmund.

“An excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2006

This is an excellent business hotel on the edge of downtown Dortmund next to the train station (but with no train noise, at any rate from the inward-facing atrium rooms). Particularly impressive is the very innovative and intelligent room layout, effectively a mini-suite with the bedroom communicating with the bathroom through a closet. Two reservations only: the curtain in my room had partly detached itself from the rail, and breakfast space was extremely restricted (in September 2006) because of renovation; I imagine this will soon be complete. And one big plus point: I left two favourite ties behind, and after a quick phone call they were promptly sent on by post!

  • Liked — Space, design
  • Disliked — Renovation/lack of space in breakfast room
  • Tips/Secrets — Book interior room facing into atrium
