We paid about 70 Euro per night, so my entire review revolves around the sheer economy of the hotel. I would give five stars based on value alone, but see unkept carpet comments below....the main reason for four stars!
Location is fantastic for the average tourist....close to most major tourist sites and our room had a beautiful view of the Rhine and bustling 'restaurant strip'. Room was a good size, bed and linens were clean and comfy, but bathroom was rather small and some aspects were in need of updating.
In fact, the room itself felt about 75% updated, with the carpet in our room being THE WORST aspect of our entire experience with this accommodation. I apologize for not remembering our room #, but my husband said there were rooms in the hotel without carpet....I would highly recommend inquirying about one of those. The carpet in our room looked filthy...seriously made me not want to walk around the room without shoes on. With that said, I'm fairly positive the carpet was 'clean', it just had many years of stains that hadn't been completely removed and you could certainly note "paths" of wear and tear.
With that said, while the word 'luxury' fits no where in this review, I would not hesitate to stay here again! The hotel offers a bit more than 'basic' accommodation, is truly a great value, and the front desk staff was beyond charming. The hotel 'felt' family-ran, and I always like that (not supporting the mega-hotel chains, that is).
If looking for a place to rest your head "in the middle of the action" without paying a high price and willing to look beyond some imperfections, don't hesitate to book your stay here. I honestly cannot imagine finding a better bargain!
Oh, I should also mention (as some other posters mentioned) there are 'some' noise concerns, particulalry if you're not a city-dweller back home. The (fun to watch from your room restaurant strip) can be a bit noisy at night and proxmitiy to the train station results in (what I considered faint) noise from the rail.
