We booked the hotel as our first choice - the next tram stop nearer to the city centre - was twice as expensive due to a trade convention at the Messehalle. Don't be put off by the view when you arrive - the flapping plastic sheets at the top of frontage and metal structure standing forlornly in front of the entrance (watch the step - it's a big drop) - and the abandoned industrial buildings over the road suggest urban desolation but this is an area in transition. And the hotel's being refurbished - so no underground car park (but you're fine parking on the road). Inside the reception is better - it feels like a standard chain hotel.
The rooms were small but clean and the beds were especially comfortable - we all slept very well. Breakfast was good and straightforward, even if the layout meant a bottleneck to get to the coffee and hot food.
Broadband wasn't free; given this hotel is geared for business at the conference centre this seems an omission.
It's a ten minute walk through a quiet residential area to the tram station - and it's an efficient service into the centre.
All in all, this is an unpretentious hotel that provides a comfortable bed, no-frills breakfast and is in a quiet location. Check the rates - these may spike during the big conferences.
