“Convenience plus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We spent 5 nights here for Christmas 2011. It was the perfect location, with the railway station a few steps away, it made travelling to nearby towns and the airport, a breeze. Breakfast, Wi-fi, staff and our room were all great. We were on level 1 and near the elevator/stairs - if you are a light sleeper you may find this a little noisy but it did not bother us. We will definitely come back again.

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

This hotel fits our criteria - clean, convenient, comfortable and safe.

The location is great, a few steps away from the Cologne Hbf and the Dom and Hohe Str shopping street. I think it is far enough away from the Dom that we did not hear any church bells, as some other reviews for other hotels in Altstadt Cologne stated.

The room is adequate size for a Triple Room. The bathroom is a bit small. The elevator is very small, and can fit only 2 persons at a time. The breakfast is good, with good choices. There is free wifi. Good value.

Highly recommended if you do not need all the frills of a 4- or 5-stars hotels.

“Fabulous location near Dom and train station!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I stumbled on this hotel online at the last minute before flying out and booked it. It was a good choice! Small unobtrusive hotel was a gem! The location was perfect - two blocks from the Dom Cathedral and main train station in Cologne. Access couldn't have been easier - great choice for train travellers. Right next to the Rhine bridge with all the love locks too. Easy to explore beautiful central Koln on foot. Room was small and clean with a view of the Dom. Bathroom was a nice surprise - beautifully redone in lovely tile. Breakfast in the morning was lovely, and we even lucked out with on-street parking right in front of the hotel. Price was good (we thought) at about 79 euros.

Two tips:
1) This hotel accepts cash only for hotel bills less than 100 euros - no credit cards. We were able to do it on the spot, but it took most of the cash I had on-hand with no warning.
2) Beware that many of Europe's old towns (Alstadt) now require some sort of emissions sticker to allow cars into the center of the oldest parts of town. Electronic scanners view each car entering and automatically issues tickets if your car doesn't have one. I think the hotel proprietor said the fine was 40 euros. We were lucky - didn't get a ticket, but weren't told about it by our car rental agency. Good idea to ask first and avoid the ticket later.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor away from street noise.

“Location, location, location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

We booked this hotel on line after consulting tripadvisor. OK, it ain't luxurious - the rooms a fairly small, as is the lift, but, hey, when you're travelling by train to Cologne, a place adjacent to the Dom and main railway station can't be bad. The hotel is run by the owner and breakfast is good - cold cuts, eggs, fresh rolls and tea/coffee all excellent.
