Stayed here on hubbys recommendation for 3 nights in Cologne. The hotel was a 10 minute train ride outside Cologne then a 5 minute walk from station. The trains were every 10 mins or so into the early hours of the morning but after a whole day walking around the city it got a bit tiring having to get the train in and out of the city centre.
The hotel was like a pub hotel and the bar area was small and cosy. The room wasnt ready when we arrived but were not waiting long. We were disappointed in the room which was quite shabbily decorated and looked like it needed a good upgrade. The "double" bed was actually two twin beds shoved together but quite comfortable apart from the pillow.
There was a balcony but you wouldnt want to sit out there as it looked quite filthy and falling to pieces.
The bathroom was very small and just had a cubicle shower which ran hot and cold.
We ate in the restaurant once which was very good food.
Breakfast was rubbish, just a few yoghurts and cheese /ham and rolls, not even toast.
Also if you didnt get there early they didnt bother refilling things unless you requested it.
Cologne itself was fabulous. Would go again but not stay here.

Starting off with the positives, this hotel was easy to find and easy access to transportation. The bathroom was clean but room was very small. Walls were very thin, could hear our neighbours conversations and the lighting in the room was very bad. Most staff did not speak English although that was not a problem as any staff who did were not that helpful anyway. At check in we were not told the check out time, nor was it stated on any information leaflet we had. So to our great surprise,there was a 50 euro charge when we checked out at 12.45 even though we had spoken to reception and explained that we were running late!!!! Check out time is 12 noon for all of you who are brave enough to stay there!!! On return to the hotel both nights (after 2am) that we stayed there we had to wait in the cold (December) for approximately 20 minutes if not longer while we tried to wake the night porter to let us in, by both ringing the bell and the telephone. We all felt this was unacceptable. It is such a pity as it is ideally located and reasonably priced. I would not reccomend this hotel.

We stood there four nights in December 09.
positive:
- good size rooms
- clean
- S-Bahn (tube) to cologne within walking distance
- good breakfast buffet
- free parking
- quiet area

not so good:
- WiFi incredable unstable, had to move to tha staircase and even there it's unusable.
- a small glas coke costs 2.20Eur, Southern Comfort 6.50Eur

I would stay there again ( unless I need Internet ), It's good value for the money which was 75Eur for two in a double room incl. breakfast. From the Hotel to the City Center takes around 30min ( walking + waiting for tube + a 2 stop journey ). It looks as the employees are a Bulgarian family - they are quite nice and very polite, the woman at the reception is ... harsh.

the hotel is really nice and clean a little bit smoky downstairs in the bar but in general the hotel was good value for money and the food excellent, our praise goes to the staff and one person in particular Yasmina who was really helpful to us with helping us with directions and going that little bit further with excellent customer service which made our holiday wonderful many thanks
