We recently stayed at the Hotel Windsor and at the start and end of our holiday in Europe. The hotel is easy to get to from the train station. Basically turn right out of the station and walk straight for about 10 mins,pass St Gereon's Church on the left and turn right to get to hotel. About a 15min walk in total.The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given the same room for both visits which was spacious, clean and comfortable.Breakfast was totally adequate with a good selection of food and excellent coffee.
We liked the area because it was not in the main tourist area but still an easy walk to get to centre.
Was very good value for anyone wanting to be quite close to the rail station.

This is a small, clean, friendly hotel in a good location (about 10 minutes' walk) from the Dom and Hauptbahnhof. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The only negative aspects of our stay were that, first, my partner's bed was rather creaky and, secondly, we were in a ground floor room near the reception desk and, being a very light sleeper, I tended to wake up whenever anyone came in through the main door during the night. The size of the room was more than acceptable by European standards but North Americans might consider it a bit small.

Being English, I suppose one is more likely to click on 'Windsor' when surfing for hotels in Cologne - but we were very pleased. The Windsor is a 10 minute walk from the Dom and the main train station, but that does mean it is quiet, and other than that all we can say is it's great. We stayed for 4 nights during Christmas market time and found it not at all remarkable, but good size room, decent shower, friendly staff (all of them), good hearty breakfast. Overall, just a good solid hotel if you don't want to spend too much but want good service and comfort. All the staff seemed to have basic English and were keen to help.

Stayed at the Windsor in early Dec.- visiting for the Xmas markets.
Hotel very good in all respects -large ,clean rooms, very good breakfast and the staff really helpful. Would stay there again.
About a 10mins walk to the Dom but that didn't matter as it was a quieter location for sleeping than right in the city centre.
