We stayed at this hotel for Carnival weekend in Cologne. Honestly the location was IDEAL! We paid 145 Euro for a double room and our friend paid 115 Euro for a single room. I am sure that the rates would have been cheaper during other times of the year.
The Good--If you want a GREAT location to the Dom and downtown then this is it. It was a fantastic location to be for Carnival. We could open our windows and people watch with our own bathroom and heat. It was nice to have a close home base for the weekend. Staff was very friendly and nice. They are also pet friendly which we appreciated. Breakfast was also pretty solid with a good selection.
The Bad--The rooms are small. Very small in the case of the singles. The paint is worn and the hotel is starting to show it's age. Although, the beds were comfortable. Parking is on your own but there are several close parking garages to the hotel for about 15 Euro per night.
The Ugly--Sleep quality was terrible. I expected noise since it was Carnival and I'm a light sleeper. Of course I forgot my earplugs, so that was my fault. We stayed on their top floor and even four floors up it was incredibly loud. But, it wasn't just the street noise, which I expected, it was also the noise from the other rooms. We could hear our neighbors hacking up a lung, people talking, and generally not being loud but because of the walls we could hear everything perfectly. If you are a sound sleeper then maybe it would be alright, but even my husband had issues.
If we were to go back for Carnival I would stay here again. If we went for another reason I would definitely stay elsewhere.
