Budget "hotel" very convenient for a short stay in central Cologne. An easy walk to/from the train station and everywhere else. Rooms are basic but they are - and the entire places is - immaculately clean including the shared baths (other rooms are en suite). Descent enough coffee, juice and rolls in the breakfast room (cold cuts and cheese appeared not to be fresh) but if you have an early train to catch, you might be better off eating at the nearby McDonald's or at the train station. Rooms facing the street are very noisy at night. We dubbed it the Hotel No Sleep on the 1st night's stay but it was better on another night; still a good idea to bring ear plugs. A good choice for students, backpackers or adults on a budget. Helpful staff; cold beer for sale in lobby. The Hotel Ibis adjacent to the train station would be even more convenient and I would probably choose it next time if the price was about the same. Still, not an unpleasant place in a very nice city.

This was the 3rd time that we'd stayed at Hotel Good Sleep...and can't wait to return for a 4th time.

Whether the rooms and breakfast are basic or not, for centrality and price the Hotel Good Sleep is hard pushed to beat.

Cologne is a wonderful city and the Hotel Good Sleep typifies the German hospitality, friendliness and warmth.

There is one positive thing about this hotel. It is close to the cathedral. However, it is located on a very busy street, and you hear the traffic all night long. The breakfast was typical for Germany, but the bread was stale, and the meat looked suspicious. They also charged us more than what they said they would over the phone. And when we cancelled our second night, they still charged us. I would not reccomend it!

Köln(Cologne),was the last stop of our 14 day Europe travel.We stayed at this hotel one night and than drove to Frankfurt am Main Airport.We arrived at the hotel Sunday morning at 8 a.m. Check in time was at noon ,but we were tired and I wanted to take my chance to get in our room.The owner of the hotel,Thomas, (later I found it out)was at the desk.He said "yes, you are early but no problem ,I have two available rooms".And then he put the keys on the desk and told us to go up and choose the one we liked.It was a real favor to us.We chose the room we liked and I wanted to make the payment.He said "go up stairs and take a coffee,later we can arrange the payment" I wrote the conversation we had on purposely to show up the hospitality of the hotel management.
Pros. :Hospitality,location,cleanness,good value for the money
Cons.:Walls not voice proof,beds make a bit noise and not much comfortable.
