“Good Location for exploring Cologne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The hotel is tipycal Novotel style. The rooms are new, there is small gym and a sauna on the top floor with a nice view towards the river Rhein. The personal of the hotel is nice and willing to help you and provide useful tips. The breakfast of the hotel is good and quite often the room with breakfast costs only a very small amount more than without breakfast (example: 1 Euro).

The size of the rooms are ok, however there is not too much space to store your clothes, when you are not travelling alone. The bathrooms are small.

If you are interested in architecture just in front of the hotel there is the new "Zollhafen" quarter on the boarder of the Rhein. This is an architectural very interesting site, were the city Cologne combines modern and old buildings along the board of the River (also a beatiful walk).

If you walk to the shopping center area and the Cologne Dom it taks you approx. 20 minutes along the river. If you want to go out in the evening and do not walk to far, go to the Severin-Strasse (5 minutes walk) where you find shops and restaurants. A good tip is the brewery "Zum Alten Schlachthaus" with good German cuisine, good beer and a nice atmosphere.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the street are very quite

“100% satisfaction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I reccomend to all of you to stay here!!! I will stay there every time visiting Koeln. Good to relax, good to have a meeting, good to visit the city. Easy to find, easy to come in and leave it. It's located close to the city center (15 minutes walk), close to the Koelnmesse (also about 20 minutes walk).

“Not the most welcoming place we have stayed in!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Our greeting on arrival was cool and not the most welcoming that we have received. The restaurant was expensive, but breakfast was lovely. We found that the walk into town was ok if you followed the river and had no problem finding the Christmas markets. I would agree that it is more of a business hotel but the cost of the room was reasonable. If the staff were friendly it would have been much better.

“Good location, but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed there last Dec with family (2 children). Chose the hotel due to its location as we were there for the Christmas Markets. Stayed for 4 nights.
The room was spacious but very basic furniture. It had some extras (safe, kettle with coffee and tea, minibar). It would benefit of a renovation, specially the carpets.
However the breakfast was excellent with many options, specially for families with small children like us. We had dinner there once as well and was ok. They also have children's menu.
In the lobby there is a small children play area and also Xbox.
Internet and parking are expensive.

“more of a business hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

This hotel is about a 10 or so minute walk into town (when we visited in the winter it was quite a cold & slippery walk)
Rooms were what you would expect from Novotel & even has a little gym for exercise.
Id class this hotel as more of a business hotel & there would probably be some better options in the city centre.
Food in the restaurant was a little pricey for where we were at financially at the time but there are some nice eateries around.
