Stayed in Cologne for 3 nights to visit the Christmas markets. The Koenigshof is in a fantastic position 5 minutes walk from the railway station and 3 minutes from the Cathedral. Rooms are very small (what city centre rooms aren't!) but beds are comfortable and the ensuite bathroom well-equipped.....plenty of hot water and a great shower. Our room overlooked the street, but we were undisturbed by any passing traffic - it's a backstreet so carries no heavy traffic.. The breakfast buffet was a real strength, largely cold meats and cheese, but with cereal/yogourts and limited cooked too.

We spent three nights at the Koenigshof, mid-week end November/start December 2011. Superb location within a few minutes' level walk of the cathedral, main railway station, pedestrianised shopping streets of the Hohe Strasse and the Schildergasse, and just round the corner from one of the half-dozen delightful Christmas Markets. The "Campi Im Funkhaus" restaurant/bar diagonally opposite was a great place to eat & drink - on the ground floor of the WDR studios. Staff in the hotel were courteous, efficient and friendly. Breakfast had a good choice of continental fare. A great mini-break.

Good location, five minutes away from the Dom and station. Room was adequate and buffet breakfast served until 11am was good - large choice of meats, cheeses, yoghurts available plus a bit of hot food (scrambled egg, sausages, bacon).
True the bar facility is very small but who goes to Cologne and sits in a hotel bar when there are fantastic bier kellers nearby ?
Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location close to Cologne Cathedral and all other tourist attractions amenities. Although we had a street facing room it was very quiet at night so no problems sleeping.

Unfortunately the hotel itself was very disappointing. It is in need of a total redecoration, cleaning and maintainance. Carpet is very faded, old and dirty looking. Cobwebs on the ceiling in our room. Reception area very small, clusters of little flies inside the main doorway on the ceiling. Tiny depressing bar facility. Breakfast very disappointing.

There must be much better places to stay in Cologne for the same price!
