My partner and I recently visited Cologne for a short break. We chose the Best Western as we thought it's location would be good to investigate the city.
The location is good, about a 10 minute walk to the nearest underground/overground station and from there a further 10/15 trip into the centre. It's a bit of a walk from there on to the various sites. It you can change trains and get off at nearer stops.
The rooms were very good, we stayed on 4th floor at the front and didn't suffer from any road noise. The room temperature good and easy to control, beds comfortable and room very clean. Could do with having an additional 2 pillows in a double room though rather than just 1. There were only 2 English speaking TV channels though and BBC World didn't seem to work so we were left with CNN.
We ate in the hotel restaurant one night and found it to be quite expensive and limited on vegetarian options (we're both veggies). We were also the only people in the restaurant! Continental Breakfast was nice though and caters for all tastes.
The hotel has an underground parking area for guests although you do have to pay for each day you use it. Reception gave us a ticket that let us go in and out whenever we wanted which was helpful.
Overall we had a comfortable stay. You do get a business rather than pleasure feel to the place but it doesn't lack in home comforts. Would recommend for short trips.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel last April. The main aim was to see most interesting historical sites in Cologne, the cathedral in the first place. It turned out that our hotel was at busy two lanes highway quite far from the centre, in an uninteresting residential area with few shops and very few bars, restaurants and clubs to hang out. It was not easy to cross the street near the hotel safely because crossings were located far from the hotel building. The access to the city with U-bahn was easy but we had to walk for 10-15 minutes to the nearest station. We tried buses as the bus stop was closer to the hotel but during week-end buses were quite infrequent and to get to the Old Town we had to change to another bus or subway. The room was OK and it was silent due to good, thick windows- we had no problem with night sleep in spite of traffic outside. We rather liked buffet breakfasts- they were fresh and tasty although the choice could be richer for this class of the hotel. I'd rather recommend this place for travellers who don't mind staying far from the city centre with a bit lengthy transit options and don't plan to hang out much in the night.

I stayed in this hotel just one night during my visit to the Christmas Market in Cologne. The hotel is not in the centre, but there's a nearby train stop which takes you to the centre in less than 15 minutes.

The hotel itself looks quite new and is pretty clean. Unluckily, I was assigned a smelly room. I just can't understand why they still allow to smoke in hotels there. Besides the disgusting smell, the room was big enough, with a nice bathroom, despite the fact that the room was on the back part of the hotel and the only thing I could see was a neighbour building. The single bed was comfortable and big, but the blanket was far too small and I couldn't sleep very well because of this. I was offered free and pretty fast internet.

Breakfast was just correct, maybe slightly under the average for a 4 star hotel. Food quality was excellent, but there wasn't much variety.

Parking was easy and safe, since the hotel is situated right next to a police station.

This hotel was excellent, the room was awesome, the breakfast was awesome, and the staff were awesome. The hotel was very easy to find just off the autobahn a little ways. It is a bit far from the center of Koln which sucks a little but I don't mind staying out. It was about a 500 meter walk to the mass transit, I've had worse and better, just sometimes bites to be tired at night and have that last walk back to the room. A great hotel, would definitely recommend it.
