“Not a bad hotel, suits the purpose, an average 4*”

Overall, not a bad hotel, clean rooms. Think of it what you'd expect for a rather mediocre 4 star place. We had a bit of a stuff around with the rooms initially (booked one, were placed into a lower category room, after the expression of emotions in relation to that, we were moved to another room a day later). We were there during a busy time, when Imm Cologne was on, the hotel was entirely booked out..

There's an Ice Bar at the hotel, if you enjoy cocktails, make sure that you swing past. The bar tender there makes excellent cocktails (one of the best I've tried actually)

“Central, nice rooms, good price”

We stayed as a couple for four nights at the beginning of January 2012. We had a standard room, and had requested a view of the Dom through email and received it, which was great.

The hotel was lovely, clean, modern and had good facilities (bar, restaurant, ice bar, gym and sauna). It was also situated in a great location.

The hotel staff were very helpful, and efficient. We were able to have a late check-out for no extra charge because the hotel was quiet and we even got a brand new tooth brush for free (we forgot to bring one). All these extra touches really made our stay very comfortable.

The only downside was that on the three occasions we asked for directions to a historical site or a particular area of the city, we were told the wrong information (all three times, we ended up a good hour or so away from where we had asked to be directed to). So I would advise visiting the tourist information for local knowledge/directions.

The breakfasts were very good, cooked and served to a high standard. Just what you need to start the day exploring.

Overall, excellent price and would definitely consider returning if we found ourselves in Cologne again.

Room Tip: Request a high floor with a view of the Dom to get a nice room and a nice view!

“Great Choice in Cologne”

Taveling on business with a colleague, our new employer booked us at a hotel which no one had stayed. After a look in the room, we both promptly returned our keys at the main desk. It was this past weekend, and the outside temperature was -10C and we both had travel bags designed for a 10-day trip. We saw a Hilton sign and walked up to reception with no reservations, and it was after 6 PM. We were welcomed and promptly provided a competitive rate including breakfast and internet access. It should be noted we are both Gold Level members. The front desk experience, room quality, breakfast and internet access were excellent. Location is also excellent as it is two blocks from the Cathedral. Unfortunately it was too cold to stay outside for any length of time so we spent many hours inside the hotel. When we did leave for a short walk and coffee, our rooms were promptly serviced. I will be traveling to neigboring Leverkusen in the future and will definitely stay at this hotel, in addition to recommeding for colleagues and customers.

“Appalling service”

It started off really well, we arrived at about 7pm on Boxing day and we were told at check-in that breakfast was included in our room rate. A few treats I had planned were in my room as ordered. The following morning we went for breakfast and there was some confusion as to the breakfast but they contacted the front desk who confirmed it was ok.

We had thought this was the end of it but the next day, and the one after the same confusion occurred before it was sorted out. Then on the third day someone from the waiting staff demanded that we present ourselves to the front desk immediately after breakfast (that's not editorial license, they really did!) The desk manage then told us that we weren't entitled to any breakfast at all and that we really should have paid for the 3 we had (€25 x 2 x 3 which would have been €150!). Even though they had confirmed it 4 times that we had breakfast included.

We also tried to arrange some tickets to a show and tours but the Guest Assistance/Concierge apparently don't do that (though every other Hilton I've stayed at do!)

Finally the beds gave my girlfriend and I back and neck ache (I was in agony).

All in all, what should have been a wonderful Christmas break was ruined by rude and unhelpful staff at the Hilton Hotel and beds that made me feel like an old man!! I really am tempted not to stay with Hilton again.

We really regret any inconvenience you have experienced.

Regarding the explained circumstances I would like to bring to your attention that there were made two different proximate bookings one including breakfast one excluding breakfast. Normally this information had been given through the business travel agency you have booked through. My understanding was that due to this miscommunication at check in we gave you the breakfast free of charge for the next two days and you did not have to pay any additional one.

Since we have a Guest Relations team we are always here to assist our guests with their requests. If somebody wants to book tickets we do need personal details as well as credit card details. Otherwise it is not possible to make any reservations or ticket booking. Fortunately there is a ticket office and tourism centre located two minutes away from our property. We are always happy to accompany our guests to make bookings there directly without giving us such personal details in advance.

I am sorry to read that you apprehend our team as unhelpful and rude.

We are happy that you communicated your disaffection during your stay with us. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly whenever there is something you and I have not covered yet. I will be more than happy to offer further assistance.

We recovered our old beds since the new ones manifests high quality and comfort. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you suffered with our beds.

We would be more than happy to welcoming you again at our property and to show you that we could make it better.

“Good Experience”

I have not a single negative point about my stay during 23-26th Jan, for 3nights whilst on a biz trip. I found out just before travelling out from the UK that my Co had booked me a twin, which should have been a double room - so on arrival swift staff (Jonas) very efficiently upgraded my room to a double without any hassle or fuss. Actually Jonas turned out to be a great resource, as he helped mark up a street map for me and gave me lots of great recommendations ~ all of which turned out to be very reliable (places to eat for e.g.).

The double room (1st floor) was modern, clean, warm, with a huge comfortable king-size bed. TV choices were good for a UK visitor. I didn't use the internet there nor did i eat because frankly why? the Starbucks at the Station 100m away has free unrestricted WiFi which i used everyday, and as for places to eat? so so many for all occasions, and i found a great cafe 200m away on Komödienstraße where you can get a great breakfast served on "old English china" for €9.90.

The hotel has a great clean fitness suite and a very nice (naked) sauna area, both very relaxing places to unwind.

Hotel bar and that next door (Ice Bar) all good.

You can't beat the hotel for location, 2min walk from the Station/Dom/Metro/Eats (Altstadt) Shopping on Hohe Strasse.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, and special mention to Jonas for all his help and assistance. I shall stay there again on my next visit no question.

If you want to go to eat & drink somewhere typically Köln,go to Peters Brauhaus (peters-brauhaus.de) and Salzgass Bierhouse (bierhaus-salzgass.de) Both were great good food service biers and typically German bier house ambience.

All in all, i loved Köln! :)
