We stayed as a couple for four nights at the beginning of January 2012. We had a standard room, and had requested a view of the Dom through email and received it, which was great.
The hotel was lovely, clean, modern and had good facilities (bar, restaurant, ice bar, gym and sauna). It was also situated in a great location.
The hotel staff were very helpful, and efficient. We were able to have a late check-out for no extra charge because the hotel was quiet and we even got a brand new tooth brush for free (we forgot to bring one). All these extra touches really made our stay very comfortable.
The only downside was that on the three occasions we asked for directions to a historical site or a particular area of the city, we were told the wrong information (all three times, we ended up a good hour or so away from where we had asked to be directed to). So I would advise visiting the tourist information for local knowledge/directions.
The breakfasts were very good, cooked and served to a high standard. Just what you need to start the day exploring.
Overall, excellent price and would definitely consider returning if we found ourselves in Cologne again.
Room Tip: Request a high floor with a view of the Dom to get a nice room and a nice view!
