We stayed at the NK Bergischer Hof simply because most other Hotels were booked out that night in the city.

Rate was 68€: one could argue you cannot expect much for that price; and actually I would agree on that; but essential basics were still missing you could expect for that price.

Biggest concern: the room was freezingly cold! Heating did obviously not work properly as the hotel provided some supplementary electric heating, that was although way to noisy to put on during the night.
Second concern: no window blinds or curtains. Indeed; there was no possibility to darken the room during the night. I asked about another room, but that one lacked any window blinds or curtains too.

Otherwise; the hotel was very clean, room were spacious and rather well maintained and the bathroom seemed having been refurbished recently. Hotel stuff was the most efficient ever but friendly. Location is noisy and very far away from city center. We did not take the breakfast.

If you need a cheap night of sleep: this hotel could be an option. Although, with basics such as heating or window blinds missing; it would nevertheless not recommend this hotel

Stumbled across this hotel after escaping from another! This is an old place and has had many additions, the halls and corridors are like a rabbit's warren. But ... the rooms were roomy and comfortable, bathrooms spotlessly clean and staff extremely helpful. Only a few minutes walk to the train station for a 20 minute ride into Cologne centre. Really good local restaurant nearby. Very helpful staff indeed.

I've stayed on this hotel in World Cup. Arrive at 4pm and when we enter our room it was not made..and it was full of trash. We told hotel about this and it was guaranteed that when we came back from stadium all will be fine. Of course when we arrive at night the room was right equal. Finally hotel transferred us to another room.
Besides that the hotel is very far away from city center and it is no easy to find. Avoid this hotel, there are plenty of options also cheap and better deals in Cologne.

We booked this hotel via booking.de website where it was stated it was city centre. We had never been to cologne before so we took this at its face value and made our way there. We got lost about a million times had to phone the hotel many different times and it took us aobut 1 hour to find as it was not in the city centre but about 20 mins out by car.

Upon arriving it looked a wee bit dingy but we had only payed £104 for two nights so weren't expecting miracles. We were greeted and told that we had requested a non smoking room and this was not available. I said we had specifically booked a non-smoking room but was told that it was only a request not a guarantee. So we had to make do. Got to our room and it wasn't a double bed as requested so had to change again!

The room itself was a reasonable size and the bathroom looked fairly modern and had a wonderful power shower. The decor in the room was very dark and dingy though with very old-fashioned furniture.

The bed was actually two singles pushed together and we kept falling down the middle! The matresses were very very soft and the pillows might as well not have been there. We both had very sore backs after this!!

The hotel was actually reasonable well situated in relation to public transport. 5 minutes walk to the tram then another 15 minutes into the city centre for a well priced 2 euro. It ran mostly during the night too.

The breakfast in this hotel was absolutely gorgeous! Ham, salami, pepproni and other spicy sausages, gouda, etam, brie and goats cheese and olives. Cereal, bread, toast, chocolate cake, yoghurts, eggs and bacon as well as the variety of pure juices, tea and coffey.

This hotel was a good base for the two days and provided a hearty breakfast but i wouldnt recommend any longer. Cologne itself is gorgeous!
