My wife & I stayed there recently and we were pleasantly surprised. We took a 2-day getaway for some HRC ribs and shopping. We wanted a centrally located, cozy hotel that didn't cost too much. We booked via the internet without problems, checked-in in the evening and walked to Hard Rock in time to get a good table.
With us on this trip we had our son, 9 m/o, who we got a cot for (which he didn't use anyway). The room was spacious and clean, with enough space for the lil dude to crawl around. He had a great time too.
The hotel arranged a parking garage down the street, closer than some underground parking I've used at larger hotels. Ask at the reception to get in and out.
I should mention we arrived on Sunday and stayed till Monday afternoon. What it would be like during the height of Carnival season, I can't say.
We also had our breakfast at the hotel. Coffee, bread, cheese, cold-cuts, cereals and the usual suspects. There was also scrambled eggs which my wife said were good, but without sausages or at least bacon, it doesn't matter to me.
Walking to the interesting parts of town are easy from the hotel. The shopping is close, the river is close, Heumarkt is close. Much better location than the hotels by the station and closer than the Severin bridge.
We liked it and will stay there again in the future.
