I stayed at my Poppelsdorf for four nights in March 2011. I would recommend it for a short stay. The rooms were very clean and the decor is adequate. The breakfast was varied but when it got busy, the waitresses looked a little overwhelmed with fixing broken coffee machines, serving coffee and cleaning up the plates. The location is not exactly in the centre, one has to take a bus to get to the main train station/city centre. The bus stop is nearby though.

The hotel itself is very clean and new, and some of the rooms have a very quiet setting. The breakfast is good for variety and quality. There is no laundry service provided for clothing. The reservations are not reliable. I had a written reservation for a one week stay, but was asked to leave after two nights because they were "overbooked and had other guests arriving" who had reservations (just as I did, mine booked through the Bonn conference center!). They ended up having a "cancellation" which allowed me to stay, but the whole situation was somewhat unacceptable. Others in my party had room reservations too, booked directly with the hotel, but the hotel had no record for them. Beware if you think you have a reservation on hold at this place!!

Good hotel in a very nice area. The vicinity has many bars and restaurants. The hotel has modern clean rooms, a reasonably good breakfast and pleasent front desk staff. Dont be surprised if they ask you for the money upfront if you intend to stay over the weekend. Because they are closed for the weekend with no staff from Friday evening to Monday morning.
