I was looking for a hotel in the centre of Bonn which was near the railway station (flying to/from Dusseldorf): Bonn Hbf is less than 10 minutes walk. The Domicil was in my price range.

I arrived about 10.30pm. Check-in was friendly and I was taken to room 4 which is in a block above the Ristorante Grappa in the courtyard. This may well be the most eccentric room in the hotel. About 2/3 of the room is occupied by the roomy en-suite. There is a small side table and minibar, two rather spartan seats, cable TV, and the ubiquitous trouser press. There are two wardrobes which are built into the en-suite unit.

The double bed is on a mezzanine reached by a ladder to the right of the en-suite. The ladder isn't vertical, but it was sufficiently so for me to decide that I'd descending it backwards. The ceiling beams above the mezzanine are low and I made contact on a couple of occasions. There's no a/c but there was a fan on the upper level, and the windows on the main level provided good ventilation during the day.

It was quiet - away from the trams in Thomas-Mann Strasse. I slept well and was undisturbed by other guests. I couldn't get a wi-fi signal, although T-mobile is supposed to be available.

I wouldn't care for this after a longhaul, but for a couple of evenings in Bonn, it was fine - not a room to forget!

This small hotel is located in a central part of Bonn, just minutes away from the central station and the U-Bahn. It is a quiet hotel with a courtyard at the back. However, if you stay on a Saturday night be prepared for noise into the early hours from the nightclub/bar that is located nearby. However, on the other nights I was there it seemed quiet enought. My room had character. The beds were comfortable and I liked the curved wall as well as the balcony looking over the courtyard. The decor is very dated. A very 1980s feel! although the room didn't look 'tired'. The hotel didn't feel like a four star hotel to me. The breakfast was Ok, but nothing special - cheap yoghurt, and orange juice. The door to the jacuzzi/sauna was locked when I tried to use it. This is a good 3 star hotel at a 4 star price.

We just got back from a night in Bonn and stayed here this time. The Domicil has a great location right off the main train station and main shopping area with sites.
Parking is limited but for those travelilng without a car - perfect location.

We stayed in room nr. 1 - a larger comfortable room in the courtyard - beds comfortable, appointments are better than expected.
With only 44 rooms, we liked the smallish size of this establishment.

Bathroom clean and well appointment - some ammenties are starting to show their age and a coat of paint here and there wouldn't hurt - but we are very, very picky.

During the day there is noise from the streetcars but the last tram runs at 11pm so...

The breakfast buffet is great and staff were friendly and very helpful.
We can definately recommend this hotel.

RECOMMENDED: Hotel is located a short 5 minute walk from main train station and very near the main shopping plaza. A small hotel with 44 rooms of which 1/2 face a small street with both streetcar and bus traffic with some noise until the last runs ~ 11 pm and then very quiet. This 1983 property is in good condition, rooms vary in size due to variations in building. Bedding comfortable and rooms nicely appointed with many lamps (though all low wattage meaning you need to have them all on). Bathroom was in good order, tiled and solid surface countertops, lighting was good. Hotel staff throughout was pleasant. Nice breakfast buffett and hotel related Italian restaurant is next door. Smallish bar in front. Parking available but limited. This was a winter visit and the heating comes from under the floor and is pleasant, I didn't see A/C though and it may be warm in the summer. Warm feeling, personal service and acceptable appointed rooms makes this a recommended hotel slightly above expectations for a Best Western brand.
