The smart decor and furnishings in the rooms makes the most of the limited space. The beds and bathroom are more than adequate. The walls are a bit thin, I could hear adjacent rooms showering and flushing. An early morning is guaranteed thanks to the crowing cockerels next door.

All staff working here, from the check-in desk, to the breakfast room and the bar in the evening were uniformly helpful and pleasant.

Breakfast, though unremarkable, presented a good range of cereals, muesli, pastries, fruit salad, coffee and teas. The boiled eggs were just a little overdone. Needless to say, I did not allow this small detail interrupt my otherwise very pleasurable stay here.

The restaurant nearby (if you need a place to eat) down the road (I fail to recall it's name) appears to be the local posh dining joint. Service was excellent. Some dishes suffered from the inexplicable "German curry" syndrome, whilst others were simple pasta dishes dressed up as fancy cuisine. How do you do that? Just put half as much on the plate and garnish it decoratively. I was more than pleased with my mozzarella salad and wheat beer. They even served prosecco in a proper glass. Ah, the poor man's Champagne, always a winner on a wedding anniversary date. Festive yet frugal.

Comfortable, very clean, friendly personnel. Quiet in a country place. A few cons: tiny TV and quite cold room decoration.

I stayed here in Oct 2007 as part of a group attending a meeting. The rooms were modest-sized, but the ambience was cold and uninviting. The ground-floor tall windows looked out onto the lawn area, and curtains had to be kept closed for privacy. The bathroom was chilly, and the shower stall unclean and unappealing. Really a two-star property. The meals took a long time to be served in the restaurant.
