This hotel is now operated as "Arcadia Bielefeld".
It is a standard hotel in the range. Relatively large and clean rooms and standard breakfast. Nothing fancy.
The hotel staff is not very customer oriented unfortunately. I bought a wifi access at reception for a day (12,50 euro/day 5 euro for 30 min) and was guaranteed it would work everywhere in the hotel, including my room. Unfortunately the wifi range was limited to the lobby area.
This wasn't a huge problem, but I was shocked at the unprofessional attitude of the service staff when I raised the issue. I was refused a refund on my order. I would have been happy with an apology or excited about a partial refund. Instead I got some blunt answer about the internet service being operated by a third party outside of their control.

Mercure hotels usually always deliver what you pay for, this was no exception. The rooms were modern + large, good A/C, nice minibar, all what you'd expect so no need to dwell on those points. A mention must be made for the extra bed, often this is a crummy camp bed, here it was a very comfortable single bed, thank you Mercure !
The hotel has an unbeatable location in Bielefeld, just 1 minute walk from the Altstadt and 5 minutes walk from the main shopping area. Despite the trams passing outside its a quiet area and has a big car park garage underneath.
The breakfast was one of the best yet in Germany and it was nice for the waitress to provide hot chocolate in tea pots for my girls, with milk added to the hot chocolate to cool it down for them. Five star service in a 3-star hotel !
At only 90 Euros for a room on a weekend, this is outstanding value. Just a pity there's not much reason to travel to Bielefeld again !
