Although the hotel was well established and small, it was out of the way in a residential suburb and very very quiet. The room was okay but could have been better if tea and coffee making faclilites and been provided. It was very dour and Westfalian in an old fashioned way - not to everyones's taste.
The main problem was the attitude and lack of friendliness from theowner and his wife, who were unfirendly to the point of rudeness - there was absolutely no attempt by them to make us feel welcome and despite the fact one of us spoke reasonable coversational german, they just ignored us even when in the same room. Sitting in the bar at night was like being on the Marie Celeste! The only saving graces were that the food was okay and there was a nice lady at breakfast time who at least attempted to chat to us. It seemed to us that what guests there were were probalby local business type folk, there for a night or so. Definaiely not for anyone looking for a relaxed friendly stay, especially if you were from abroad!
