“You will find better places for less”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I stay in this hotel quite often but, to be honest, it is mainly because I'm collecting priority club points.

The building is somewhat older (from the seventies I guess) and not very attractive. The rooms are ok, just average hotel rooms without being particularly stylish, spacious, or comfortable. The windows are not close-fitting and you will have noise and airflow from outside. The public areas and the restaurant are also ok. I tried dinner just once and did not really like it. Breakfast is quite nice.

The hotel is located close to the Autobahn at a noisy 4 lane road. It is close to the soccer stadium (Tivoli) and about 3 mls from downtown. There is a bus station 100 yds away with a good connection to the center. There is a parking lot in front for free. The neighborhood is a commercial area with no restaurants (except fast food) or shops. 200 yds away there is an area with street prostitutes. However, you would not notice unless you like to walk around in the evening.

Staff at the reception is friendly but the night shift is in most cases a nightmare. I happened to repeatedly meet poorly trained staff not finding my reservation, not being able to program my key card (or programming it wrong which required me to go down again 2 or 3 times), giving me a smoking room, and, in particular, needing 30 minutes to print my invoice.

They often forget to deliver a newspaper to my door in the morning (which you get as a priority club member). Sometimes they did not answer my emails regarding a reservation request.

Bottom line: OK, but there are similar or better places for less money.

Room- OK
Hotel - OK
Breakfast E16 - Expensive
WIFI - Extortionate !
Restaurant - Was about to order dinner when a mouse crawled from under my neighbours table. I was assured by the 'victim' it was a field mouse who had wandered in but was off putting to say the least !
Burger King is across the road

“Expencive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We had to stay one night extra in Germay so we decided to drive to Aachen near the border with the Netherlands and i have always wanted to go to Aachen, We booked into the Holiday Inn it cost 109 Euros for one night I asked if the room had tea and coffee i was then informed if i wanted these it would cost another 18 Euros and if i wanted breakfast it would cost another 16 Euros each as were very tired with driving we did stay the night the staff were very helpful and the room very clean but i thought a little small

Room Tip: If you visit Aachen then drive past the Holiday Inn I wish we had as when we visited the city centre...

“Nice, not really in the centre.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

The hotel is in a bit of an industrial area. Distance to the centre is just over ten Euro with a taxi, and too far to walk. The rooms are nice, certainly not small. Internet is not free, it is rather costly (12 Euro for 24 hours, prices for shorter periods are a rip-off). The bar is a standard hotel bar.
Breakfast is nothing special, and to be honest somewhat overpriced. Cooked breakfast is almost warm, coffee is warm and there's more than enough.
It is a nice, standard German hotel.

“Pleasant one night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

This Hotel is very convenient if you are in Aachen for sports events (it is very close to Tivoli, the footbal stadium and the ice-rink) or for the Carolus Spa (5 minutes by car). It also has a large free car park. The staff is very helpful and breakfast is plentiful and varied. We booked a large room and we were surprised to find out that the price included 5 free drinks from the minibar.
Not the best hotel if you want to be close to the city centre. No free wifi, although it is available for a fee.
