We stayed here for two nights as part of a driving tour of the area. We really cannot fault anything about this hotel. It is located in an extremely quiet position on the shore of the lake. Accommodation is in several different buildings a few hundred yards apart. We were in the Haus am See and had the Yacht Club Suite. The room and ensuite were spotlessly clean and well equipped, and we had a huge balcony with views down to the lake. There was ample parking outside. Meals are taken in the reception building and the Dining Room has a large conservatory section. Breakfast was spectacular and dinners superb. The servings are generous. The staff are all in naval uniform - something of the hallmark of this hotel. By car you can be in the centre of Schwerin in 10 minutes. There is a summer boat service late morning and the hotel can arrange an early morning transfer into town - but we preferred the flexibility of our own car.

The staff spoke good English and were very friendly. The only problem we encountered was their wifi access was down - but it wasn`t their fault and they were extremely apologetic.

We won`t hesitate in recommending this hotel to others.

We stay here frequently throughout the year! The wellness area offers two sauna-areas of which one is equipped with a small jaccuzi. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Every room has a certain theme in its decoration. In summertime they have a private swimming area in the lake. Swimming pool is yet missing, but there plans to have one built.. Breakfast is great in its variety and quality!!

A bit far out from Schwerin center, but tourist can go there by boat as the hotel has its own stop of the Schwerin "white fleet" boats.

We have stayed in this unique hotel situated in a picturesque environment for two weeks in May 2011 and loved everything about it: beautiful landscape around a wonderful lake, fresh air filled with fragrance of flowers. It was sheer pleasure to walk around in the surrounding woods and farmlands and to have boat trips in the adjacent lake. The dinners we had in the restaurant were genuine gourmet dinners. We also could do day trips (by rail) to Hamburg, Berlin, and Wismar. We would definitely go back to this hotel again.

The off-season rate of about € 42 per night was unbeatable for a location like this, right next to a huge lake. But - smoke from the incense burnt in the spa area coming to your room through the shared ventilation system is not everyone's favorite. Neither is their unwillingness to do something about it.

If I am holding a booking for a hotel room anywhere in northern Europe in mid-November I would expect the heating to be switched on well ahead of my arrival, as the room will otherwise obviously be cold - not so here, so it was.

Apart from that the room itself was very well maintained with light fresh colours and the usual amenities you would expect from a Best Western. The only drawback was the lack of sound isolation. We had the "pleasure" of listening to a couple making love in their room on the floor above ours in the evening.
