I stayed just for one night on a business trip and had not real expectations but the Parkhotel turned out to be very nice. The room was great and the restaurant was actually very good. highly recommend the hotel.

We chose the Parkhotel because we were in town to attend a family wedding being held in the same hotel. Because of this, we didn’t really shop around or look at the hotel very closely before arrival, and thus went in with no expectations one way or the other. However, we found the Parkhotel to be very nice and will not hesitate to stay there again on future trips to visit family in the area.

First of all, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Due to a nasty traffic jam and consequent car troubles, we did not arrive until 2:00 a.m. on Friday night. The hotel is not big enough to have a night receptionist, so we rang the night bell and hoped for the best. The door was quickly answered by someone who we had clearly woken up, and I must give him credit for being extremely welcoming and friendly in spite of the late hour.

The rooms themselves were very simply decorated, clean, and comfortable. Upon waking up the next morning we discovered that the hotel is so named because it sits on the edge of a large park, which our hotel room looked out over. As is typical in Germany the breakfast was included in the room price, and I for one was very impressed that, in addition to the standard Continental fare, they also had an egg station where they would whip up made to order eggs right in front of you. This may not sound very exciting for those used to American hotels, but breakfast in Germany is typically a continental breakfast buffet where the eggs (if they are offered at all) are left to cool in a large serving dish. So, needless to say, I was delighted with the breakfast.

After a big renovation we came back to the Parkhotel. It was allways a good place to stay, but the rooms needs renovation. This is done now and perfect. The restaurant is good and people who like a quit place will be pleased.
Sure it's not a Ritz-Charlton ... but the price is much more competive and the people are close as nice.
