Other reviews have summed it up quite well - the hotel itself, the rooms in particular, are tired and dated, forget about proper air conditioning (and leaving the windows open lets in the highway noise). For a location on the edge of the city with plenty of space, it also seems a bit illogical to charge for outdoor parking on site.
On the other hand its in a great location for an overnight stopover, being located very close to the highway exit. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good for a hotel of its type, the bar served a great Bitburger, and there was outdoor seating for the hot summer evenings. My main complaint is that its quite expensive for an Ibis, almost twice the price one would pay for an identical Ibis hotel in Saxony or Nordrhein Westfalen. Reduce the price a little and/or modernise the hotel, then it gets 4 stars from me.

Dear guest,
as I can see you stayed in July 2010 in our hotel. I am glad to tell you now, you won´t recognize the hotel anymore, due to refurbishment. Our rooms have new colours, carpets, beds and curtains as well as a large flat screen. Unfortunately on this type of building an individual air condition for each room is financially and economically not realizable. We always set the conditioning on an average temperature to try and please as many guests as possible. Compared to the parking prices downtown (all hotels in Osnabrueck do charge the guests for parking) we try to keep our prices as low as possiple. Unfortunately we have to charge a certain ammount for facility maintenance which also includes the video security. Our prices vary on the market and request, and so they do in Saxony and Nordrhein Westfalen also. It is a normal strategy in all Ibis Hotels now to adjust to the situation in the town as all hotels do now a days. We would be happy to welcome you again as our guest so you can see the changes that happened from July until now.
