“A mixed bag for sure...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

The flies were tremendous in the hotel, most likely due to the open door in the back. Most rooms don't have A/C which is critical. Shower temperature varies greatly so watch out, I got scalded. The room was basic. I don't prefer two twin beds pushed together to make a king. The cleaning staff would walk in unannounced until I discovered an additional safety button on the door which prevented them from being able to use their key. Our camera "disappeared" while the cleaning lady insisted we leave our door open. Cleaning staff also was not very through and did not replace supplies when empty, floor dirty, etc. On the good side, the front desk was very helpful and the food was very good. They have an option to squeeze your own oranges for orange juice which was fantastic. The dinning staff was either very good, or rude. Hit or miss. The buffet ends at 10 am and one of the elder female wait staff informed me I was LATE! She was quite rude indeed. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, steam and sauna and overall it met our needs. The cleaning staff shut off the A/C of our friend's room and opened their windows. They returned to a room full of swarming flies which was most annoying.

We are extremely sorry that you were unsatisfied with the the housekeeping and restaurant personnel. We would like to apologize about our cleaning personnel entering the room unannounced about the switched off air-condition. This is absolutely not our usual standard and we have taken measures in both areas.
It is correct that there are no air conditioning units in our standard rooms. Less than a year ago, we introduced a new room category which offers our guests a great comfort on hotter days. Our privilege rooms offer more space, VIP bath accessories including a bathrobe, daily newspaper, coffee/tea facilities as well as free wireless internet access, air conditioning unit and a complimentary bottle of mineral water. We would be very happy to welcome you soon again in our hotel and to provide you with a great experience.

“Good hotel, great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

I stayed in the Hotel Mecure Atrium Hannover for 4 nights as I was on a business trip. This hotel is located very much away from the city, with a taxi it takes 10-15 minutes to get to the main train station of Hannover. Also right next to the hotel, the fire-fighters are located. My room was in the fifth floor, I did not hear them. But in the lobby you can.
In front of the hotel there is a subways restaurant.

The hotel has a big lobby where during soccer world-cup they show the games on a big TV. They have three rooms to eat in, you can also sit outside in the inner yard when the weather is nice. In the lobby you can see all the way up to the seventh flloor and the glass ceiling. There are two elevators with glass walls.

Rooms are big, at least mine was. They have a minibar/fridge, a large bathroom and a big twin bed (two put together). The bathroom looked ok to me, it had a hair drier and a tub where you can take a shower in. The shower is mounted to the wall in that way that it is not really easy to take a shower and also after showering you will have some water on the floor.

There is complimentary shampoo, lotion and soap as well as shoe shine.
Prices from the mini bar: a chocolate bar EUR 2,50; a water (0,5l) EUR 3,50.

The room has a TV with international stations and pay TV. One annoying fact was that if you change between certain channels too fast (for example from 4 to 8 and back again) you will by accident go to channel 48. And that is payTV (blue movies). The screen is black as you have to confirm your choice first but nonetheless you hear the sound of these movies. Be careful about this if you don't want to have an embarassing moment. I left them a note about this.

The hotel provides W-Lan internet for EUR 4,95 for 24 hours. It is not that fast, I needed to work and it took ages. In case you should not have W-Lan, you can use a cable connection but that costs EUR 20,- for 24 hours. But these 24 hours go with the day and not with the usage, meaning that the 24 hour period ends every day at 12 midnight. At it is not that fast as well.

The best thing about this hotel is the food. If you order breakfast, it costs EUR 15 I think. That is expensive but the choice is very big. You can get everything like the typical German breakfast with rolls and jam and so on, but also fruit, beans, sausages, eggs (boiled, fried...), ham, soup... Really, there is much to chose from.

Lunch and dinner are also great, depending on the load of the hotel they have buffet or a la carte. The cook is great, there was nothing I could complain about. A beer costs EUR 4,- by the way.

As close to the hotel is some clinic, you will see some patients walking along in the hotel. This clinic also has internatiol guests, we saw around 10 Arabians there. The hotel is also known for their seminar rooms so there will also be some groups from different companies.

So I can only recommend this hotel.

“Basic but good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2010

Basic 3 star hotel. Room spacious but depressingly dated and relatively basic. I had a bad night's sleep - room was stuffy and hot but the road too busy to keep the window open. On the upside, service was good and the breakfast buffet impressive.

“Not comfortable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2007

I didn't have any major problems at this hotel, it just is really quite a dump. In the restaurant areas there are lots of flies. This is one of those hotels where a "king bed" is really two beds pushed together. Instead of an iron in my room I had lots of food and drinks scattered about with cards indicating how much they cost. There's no clock. The furnishings are old. Overall just not very comfortable. I'd recommend paying a little more and staying somewhere nicer.

“Acceptable, but not four stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2006

Stayed here in September. The four stars must have indicated special amenities, certainly not the rooms which are average. There is no airconditioning which is required in all but the winter months, I think. The one window didn't let much fresh air in. Bathroom was efficient and worked fine. The furnishings and carpet in the room were a bit "tired."

Breakfast had good choices.

Reception was very friendly.

If it is on your way somewhere for just one night, it's an ok choice.
