I always try to stay at the Mercure Atrium when I go to Hanover even though there are other more luxurious hotels in the area. If you are a business traveller, particularly if you are in the insurance business, the Mercure Atrium is in Karl-Weichert-Allee and within easy walking distance of many of the large (re)insurance companies based in the city. The beds and bedrooms are comfortable if not large. The restaurant is nice, and breakfast is usually good and worth the €18. (Where else in Hanover will you get a good quality breakfast buffet for this price?)

The staff aren't exactly the kind of people who are going to jump through hoops to please you, but if you go to Hanover understanding that it's a sort of 'work-life-balance'; social market economy, state corporatist sort of place, you won't be expecting them to - and they're perfectly pleasant anyway.

And for heaven's sake, the price is phenomenally good. I normally seem to pay about €75 to €100 per night which is probably the best deal I'm getting in any European city where I stay (including Prague and Warsaw)! The only danger is that Hanover is a city with many business conferences. When these happen all of the hotels fill up incredibly fast and this one is usually one of the first so book early.

Good location near the City of Hannover. Little short of parking places and a bit noisy right beside the Fire-Station. Subway restaurant also near. Good for teenagers :-) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx cccccc cccc cccfc fttttt

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and had a Superior Room (upgrade from standard). The room was bright, spacious, clean, and comfortable. Nice bathroom and ammenities such as toiletries, coffee maker, mini bar, etc. Breakfast, pricey as most European hotel breakfasts, was phenomenal with the selection. Coutereous, helpful staff. Although internet was free as part of the upgrade, wireless was only accessible from the lobby/lounge area on the first floor. Only drawback was the occasional sirens from emergency vehicles approaching the traffic circle near the hotel as we had a street front room. It didn't keep us awake, but we heard them when we weren't sleeping. We would stay here again if we get back to Hannover in the future.
