Having been renovated during the summer of 2009 the standard of the rooms has been hugely improved. Confortable beds, clean rooms and friendly staff. The hotel also has limited inside parking at the same cost as using one of the regular carparks.

Very much recommended

I stayed for a few days in one of the suites and the rooms and location are excellent. The rooms are large, very clean, finished in detail, the bed are extra long and comfortable and it has a great bathroom with tv in the mirrow, jacuzzi and walk in led - shower. It misses the little gadgets like slippers or any kind of accessories. Considering the price of 250 a night it was a good value. Breakfast was also pleasant and included in the price.

Hotel Mussmann is fine! For a low cost stay bang smack in the middle of Hannover it is good value for money. However don't be fooled by the title - Grand it is not! The staircases may be sweeping with interesting artefacts on the landings, but the rooms are brown 1970's style and a bit dingy. Most rooms don't have a bath. The beds are interesting in that they have a high wooden frames a bit like a box and convert to seating areas in twin roooms.
The rooms overlooking Ernst August Platz (opposite the main station in the main square) are the best. Others open onto a central courtyard which is quite narrow and not the best place for privacy.
Breakfast is buffet type and quite good. However at busy times it can be difficult to get a seat and the waitresses are quite busy. Check in staff are very friendly and helpful.
As I have said in other reviews dont miss Ernst August Brauhaus for a night of excellent food, dancing and home brewed beer (which has amazing no hangover properties). The Market Hall for a dazzling display of multi national food and Standige Veratung for absolutely outstanding food in an unusual building (in the big glass bank which looks like a child designed it).
Hannover is very under rated - sit by the lake and watch the world go by, wander in a baroque garden, take a trip up to the top of the Rathaus. THere are also trips out to half timbered towns like Celle and Hamlyn.

I'm actually staying at the Grand Hotel Mussman as I write this review and am so impressed by the hotel and the service of the staff that I was driven to write this review while I'm still here!

The Grand Hotel Mussmann is situated a stone's throw from the Hannover main train station. I took the train in and walked to the hotel (even with all my luggage). The lobby is sparse, modern, and classy. The staff is friendly and recognized my name when I told them I had a reservation. The halls of the hotel are misleading. They are dark and plain and could probably use some new carpeting and a coat of paint. But my room...oh, my room! It's very modern and sparse, with clean lines, bright white linens, and floor to ceiling transluscent sheers along one wall that cover an entire wall of windows.

There is an adequate desk for me to spread out my work on, a black leather love seat for me to sink into, and the bathroom is marble with lots of mirrors.

The staff is friendly and speaks good English (as my German is non-existant), and knows the area well to be able to give me directions on how to take the somewhat confusing system of trams, trains, and buses to where I need to be tomorrow.

I am so impressed with this hotel. The beds are soft, the rooms are extremely clean, the shower is strong, and the staff is extremely helpful. This is the only place I'll stay in Hannover when I return!
