After the reviews on tripadvisor and particularly the photos of the themed rooms, I was looking forward to staying at this hotel. However, the themed rooms cost an additional 30 Euros and the normal room was nothing special.
Pros: Rooms are quite spacious, tiny balcony on most rooms (I guess is good for smokers), excellent restaurant food. Location within walking distance of the main railway station (HBF), great breakfast.
Cons: The hotel is positioned right on the tram line which means that you can feel and hear the rumbling every few minutes when a tram goes by. Despite the double glazed windows & doors, the noise level is higher than average. I'm a heavy sleeper so it was not too much trouble for me. However, the room was cold and not heated when I arrived in January which was not a nice reception. No tea/coffee facilities (though I know you don't always get this in Germany), the bed was extremely soft and the shower was extremely small, not a problem for me as I'm slim, but could be disastrous if you are slightly overweight as you cannot turn. The showerhead kept sliding down the pole too.
Summary: All in all, the hotel was okay but as you can get a lot of good cheap hotels and "Pensionen" (B&B style inns), I found this very expensive for what it was.
However I would possibly stay here again because of the excellent restaurant, easy connection to the airport via train but only if I got a cheaper deal. (My room cost £132.00)
