Location is the key here. It's not much to look at from the outside and the rooms are adequate as opposed to opulent, and it's outside the city centre, but...
... It's next to the HCC, and when I say next to, you can either walk to the centre through the back end of the park, or actually go by a link tunnel if it's raining. Same story if the zoo is your main visit purpose, it's a stone's throw away.
Even though it's outside of the centre, it's easy to get to. Tram stop a little way from HBF is on a direct route, or you can catch the bus. Airport is basically shuttle train to HBF, then tram from the shopping centre next to HBF - doddle. One note of caution, it's easy to miss platform numbers at the station if you're not familiear with the signage/layout of German statsions, hardly the fault of the hotel though!
Breakfast was included on my prebooked rate, but is a little pricy otherwise. Having said this, you can set yourself up for the day nicely, good buffet and good quality. Bar is not too expensive and good for snacks/light meals and has an old style cocktail piano if you fancy a tinkle. The spa/swimming pool is quite a surprise and is of a pretty good quality. Prudes beware, no clothes is the norm in the sauna, so please don't complain if you see naked flesh, this is the norm for Germany. Didn't try the business centre, as this was a leisure trip, but there's a freebie internet machine in the foyer if you don't want to buy wifi.
Room was fine, staff very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Good eating recommendations for town centre, offered to book taxis etc and even turned a blind eye to many people in our group ordering pizzas to be delivered to them in the bar.
Anyway, couple of photos attached to give you an idea of the room and location.
If I was going to another event at the Centrum, I'd be here in a flash.
