“Central location, nothing else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

Indeed, lives up to its name: "Central" as it has the best location. It also offers a good breakfast and a parking (in the neighbourhood) at a reasonable price. However the room, though comfortable, could be cleaner as well as the attention, a little more friendly. Another drawback is the fact the hotel don´t have elevators (but few up stairs rooms), so, you must carry your luggages up stairs by yourself.

Room Tip: try the first floor, because they don´t have elevators and don´t help you with the luggages

“coulda been better, coulda been worse ...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2011

I came here for work purposes (walking distance to the university). I know the university puts people up here on a regular basis, but my impressions are mixed. On the good side of things, the breakfast is nice (although they're not always ready with everything at 6:30, when bf is supposed to begin), they have wireless internet without extra charge, and my room was clean. On the not so good side, the room and the bed are tiny (no, I am not overweight), the TV screen is smaller than that of my laptop, there are no amenities at all, and the room has the two unattractive features: (i) it opens up to a backyard which seems to have a dovecote or so, which means that you have quite some pigeon noise from really early in the morning till the evening (I am used to animal noises in general, but this was somewhat annoying, esp. when you want fresh air and open the window even only a bit). (ii) there is a tainted-glass type of window-thing in the ceiling. I guess the idea is that it lightens up the room or something. What it also does, however, is not allow you to go to sleep aearlier (to recover from jetlag) in anything but broad daylight. I really wondered why the window had two curtains given that there is no way in hell you get the room dark anyway because of this ceiling thing before it is really dark outside. Thus, you should really only stay here if you're out of the room from morning till rather late in the evening - if you need to spend any time in the hotel as such, you will not be happy ...

“Great location, warm atmosphere, some deficits”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2009

Great location in the historical section of the center. Very helpful receptionist, nicely decorated lobby. Rooms modern, but single beds too narrow and uncomfortable (book double!). Doors (80s plastic style handles) and walls very thin, so noise in the morning from the hallway. However, no noise from outside the hotel if your room goes to the back. Very good bathroom, absolutely clean, but duvet stained inside the linens (it happened to show, I did not examine it in detail). Standard German hotel breakfast, service there could have been friendlier.

“Warm Welcome at Central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2008

We enjoyed a most pleasant overnight stay at the Central - a recently refurbished hotel in the heart of old Goettingen, which is a lovely historic university town.
We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. Our room was simply but well furnished in a fairly minimalist style with a well equipped en-suite shower room. Everything worked.
We were in Room 238 which was quietly located at the back of the hotel but the road on which the hotel stands is a pedestrian zone anyway.
The buffet breakfast was good and included in our double room charge of 110Euros. The hotel had its own secure parking just a few hundred metres away for an extra 4Euros and we were able to leave our car until the following afternoon while we were sightseeing. We were also able to enjoy early morning tea delivered to our room.

“Excellent, qualtiy hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2008

Booked a double room for one night. Very spacious, modern room with gorgeous bathroom. Comfortable, large bed. The hotel staff were very helpful, even letting me occupy my room before 8am due to my early arrival by Eurostar from the UK. The hotel, as its name suggests, is centrally located within the old town and I would highly recommend it for anyone visiting this beautiful city.
