I have been doing a road trip of Germany, and looking for a combination of charm and reasonable price, and this one caught my eye.
Built in 1904, you really get a sense and flavor of the feel from 100 years ago, but with most of the modern amenities and friendly service.
This place reminds me a great deal of some of the ancient hotels I went to in Prague years ago.... Rod iron and marble staircases... Touches of ornate in the decor.. But all without being Bel Air ritzy.
Rooms have many standard appointments one would expect. Being from 110 years ago, you get a sink in your room, and the secure shower and restroom are shared on the floor. It's really quite nice!... And starts around 40 euros if you add breakfast for a few more.
My only real complaint is that it's nearly 100 degrees F today, and mildly muggy, so it would be nice to have a/c or at least a fan in my room, but hey, it's Europe and those are not too common anyway.
Overall a decent hotel :)
