Booked this hotel directly with the hotel via email given on their website as a stop over on way home from camping in the Black Forest and we were not disappointed. It could be a little hard to find as the directions said to follow the tourist signs with the blue hotel spots - but I never saw one! Thank goodness for the GPS!
The Hotel has a very small, unimpressive, frontage as it occupies a narrow slice of the end of a block. However it feels much larger on the inside due to clever design, good lighting and clean contemporary furnishings in the entrance and cafe/breakfast room.
Staff were very friendly and helpful on check in and could speak really good English once I'd exhausted my very limited German. My booking requests for 2 rooms next to each other, one a twin the other a double, were taken care of with no problems.
On street free parking was available as it was the weekend, but you have to park in a nearby multi storey in the week for around 15 euros.
The rooms were both comfortable, with enough space for large bags and a reasonable size for a city centre hotel. Nicely decorated, furnished with old English furniture and a brass bedstead. Bed was very comfortable. No airconditioning but you could open the windows and there was a large fairly quiet, electric fan. No mini bar but a cold drinks machine with coke, water, fanta and beer in the lobby for 2 euros.
Bathroom was a bit of a disappointment as I was looking forward to a bath after a week camping, but it only had a shower. However, it was easy to operate and had great water pressure.
Room had TV which had CNN as well as German & French .
It should have had BBC as well, but this wasn't working - didn't bother trying to get this sorted as we didn't stay long enough for it to be a problem. There was also a sign which said there was free wireless internet but we didn't need it.
Lovely freshly prepared buffet breakfast included in the price (the breakfast room is a cafe for non-residents as well which explained why there was a priced menu up). Included teas, coffees, freshly squeezed orange juice, hams, cheeses, cut meats, fruit, mueseli, bread etc. , enough to suit any taste or diet, which set us up for the next leg of our journey.
Hotel is convieniently placed just across the road (5 mins walk)from the edge of the main shopping area, bars, restaurants, and the old town and approx 15 minutes walk from the Kurhaus and Parks.
The only down side was that the lift doesn't go to the top floor, so we had to haul our luggage up a flight of stairs to get to the rooms. So if you expect to have heavy bags or have mobility problems remember to ask for a room the lift will take you to!
Overall good value for money, and a pleasant stay.
