This was my third Wiesbaden hotel - I travel there fairly frequently - and now I think I'll stop looking at others.
This has to be the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, in my life. A proper double bed with no twin-mattresses pushed together and the resultant uncomfortable divide down the middle. A well sprung but very deeply cosy bed and Oh Heaven, proper pillows too! I HATE German hotel pillows which are so soft and squashy, but this hotel has proper English beds and proper English firm pillows.
I slept like a log, for once.
Other than that, the room is decent-sized but there is only one chair. A fan runs continually in the tiny bathroom which cannot be switched off, when the light is on. (Some other hotel bathrooms have a separate light over the hand-basin which allows one to switch off the overhead light/fan.) There is a step up into the bathroom, which I stubbed my toe on once, but these are minor issues.
Breakfast was just as good they promote on their website and indeed, even better. There were no other breakfast customers when I finally appeared next morning and the cheerful lady couldn't do enough for me. Orange juice was freshly-pressed; tea freshly made and when I said I didn't like it, it was swiftly taken away and replaced with a carafe of good coffee. She made me some scrambled eggs with chopped ham in, on a hot-plate on the buffet. The other breakfast things were above-average standard - and note - this is included in the room rate.
The Alexander is slightly farther out from the pedestrianised zone than I'd anticipated but on the other hand, it was easy to park.
I would definitely recommend this place and will stay there again.
