The rather plain exterior of the Hotel Baeren appropriately reflects the no-frills interior. I received a very friendly and helpful reception when I arrived. The interior showed some age, but was clean and in good order. It is located very centrally in Wiesbaden, close to many upscale shops and restaurants in the pedestrian zone. It is about a mile from the central train station.

My room was quite small; single bed, small shelf with desk area with chair. Small closed. Small, but adequate TV. The bathroom was tiny, All the fixtures were modern and in good order. The room and the bathroom were very clean.

The only problem I had with the room was that it got quite stuffy. If I opened the window a lot of street noise came in. The undesired warmth was exacerbated by the European-style bedding, which consisted of a single, fluffy comforter which proved too warm. The bed was firm, but comfortable.

Free unsecured wireless internet was available in my room. Some of my associates in other rooms indicated that they did not receive it in their rooms.

Breakfast, included in the room price, was an excellent buffet. An array of meats, cheeses, fruits,breads, cereals and some hot dishes were available. My lunch in the Hotel's dining room was excellent and reasonably priced. The restaurant is also open for dinner.

The hotel features thermal baths, at a small additional cost. I did not try them.
