We stayed at the hotel during a tour with friends and upon arrival were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. It was light and airy and the rooms were more than comfertable. Staying at the front of the hotel meant we experienced more of the traffic and train noise however it was quiter as the evening drew on and so didnt disturb our sleep.

The staff were fine however wanted to make the least effort possible and any chances of excellent service went out of the window very quickly especially as we were advised they would not provide table water and we would have to purchase other drinks. This was reflected in their reception service also which ended at 8 in the evening with no one available to help with any guest queries.

This aside it was fine as a base from which to explore the area and the general attitude of the staff was taken light heartedly by our group.

Unfortunately during the evening of our last night we received some very distressing news from family about an emergancy which had resulted in a family member being taken into hospital in a serious condition. The internet availability was only available with a password and using the emergancy number we contacted the owner mid evening to assertain whether they could provide us with this in order to book emergancy flights home. After explaining the situation the responce was not in the least helpful or understanding and was in fact incredibly rude! I was advised that i would need to wait until 8 O' Clock in the morning at which point i asked whether there was anything they could do, as it was a very serious situation that had occured at which point i was told, 'you will have to use your phone then'. At this point i realised that i was not going to get any help whatsoever and the result was me trawling Rudesheim for a cafe/bar with a connection with which we could book flights.

I was incredibly disappointed and angry with the responce of the hotel and combined with the un-friendly service means i would urge anyone to think twice before visiting. I can easily appreciate the trials of running a busy hotel however the utter ignorance and rudeness i experienced in a very difficult time means i will NOT be staying here again and neither will any of the 40 strong party we travelled with who were equally incensed!

We had a 3rd floor room which was ok. No air con so it was ridiculously hot, especially at night. We had to open the window which made the noise from the busy road and adjacent railway line almost intolerable.

Staff were on the whole off-hand bordering on rude, with the exception of the gentleman on reception.

Breakfast was advertised as until 10 am but we were made to feel like nuisances when arriving at 9:50. The breakfast was ok though.

There are lots of better, more reasonable, quieter and, I suspect, much friendlier hotels in town. I will certainly try one of these on any subsequent visits.

They advertised a "double room", for 49 euros online. We called and emailed, there was some confusion and after five days when it was too late for us to find another hotel they made us an "offer". The price was 49 euros "per person" in a "double" so now the price was 98 euros. When I tried to make sense of this I was told " a lot of people have trouble with this" but nothing was going to change. Being 6000 miles from home and very tired I relented. The room was OK but noisey and up two flights of stairs after the elevator! This place sucks and is a ripoff.

We booked 2 rooms at this hotel without knowing what it was like. We took our two children with us and found it was fantastic. the kids had a room on the ground floor which was massive and we had one on floor 2 which we found very comfortable. All the staff at the hotel were very helpful despite my poor German. We enjoyed the pool and the steam room and the hospitality at the bar later in the evening. Breakfast was excellent and parking was easy. I would recommend this hotel.
