We stayed in this hotel when our regular hotel in Alzenau was full due to some industrail exhibition and refused to accept our booking. Our supplier in Alzenau - Leybold Optics booked this hotel for us when we had to inspect one of the manufactured by them for us.

It is a nice hotel with all the facilities and hotel staff are nice. We got all the varieties of food including Japanese food for our Japanese collaborator counter part who stayed with us for inspection of machine. Hotel is conveniently located and it was very close to our inspection location.

You should be cautious that the hotel mandate us to pay everything in advance, there are so many rules etc. It is better to go through the terms and conditions of hotel (which normally they provide along with your booking - we actually neglected this and we paid for that negligence) before you enter into hotel.

Hotel is not worth for the cost.

Im sure this was a nice hotel in the 80s. Now its run-down and in need of refurbishment. Its used to be the Mercure Hanau, but i suspect rather than invest in refurbishing it, they simply sold it on. Its not a bad place. The staff are very friendly indeed to be fair, and plenty of free secure parking. The hotel was almost empty when i stayed, and it took a whole 5 minutes for the tap water to become hot. Shocking was the 8Euro charge per hour for the internet. And 15Euro for breakfast seemed a bit expensive also. The room was comfortable and the bed clean, but everything else was covered in dust. Happily i got a very good rate on this hotel or i would have been quite disappointed.

Hanau has some charm, but it isn't the loveliest town, so this place fits in well. The whole hotel stinks like smoke, but our non-smoking room did not. It wasn't exactly clean though. There was hair on our bed and shower (as was the case in the other Tulip Hotel where we stayed in Wuppertal). My wife and I both got sick there, but to be fair, it was probably just coincidence. The location in the central area of town is pretty good. Parking was free and plentiful. And it was cheap. Internet access and breakfast were ridiculously expensive though (8 euros/hr and 15 euros/person). Reception was friendly though.

If I were coming back, I would find a bed & breakfast or stay in a different town. The dirtiness can't make up for the low price.

I stayed at the Mercure for one week. The Hotel is an older building and could use a bit of updating in terms of decor, but it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet, included with the room rate (very reasonable), was very good-something for everyone. The Hotel is a short walk from the train station and an even shorter walk to a huge shopping district with many good restaurants. The Mercure staff was very friendly and helpful.
