Best Western is not exactly my favorite hotel chain, so I had low expectations and I was positively surprised. Rooms are of different size and layout, but all seem to be quite small, mostly single rooms with one queen-size bed. All rooms and public areas are renovated; everything looks pleasant and is in good working order. All modern conveniences were there, including a coffee maker and many amenities. Minuses for the bathroom with insufficient lighting and with a wide gap between the two shower doors – bathroom was flooded, some colleagues reported that the mess extended to the bedroom and that the carpet was wet. A minus also for the bed which was too soft for me.
Staff was friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet was much better than excepted. They really made an effort to provide more than the usual canned, pre-packed and pre-cooked stuff: A nice choice of fresh fruits, “homemade” jams and an excellent egg station for instance.
Some colleagues had difficulties finding the hotels despite GPS in their cars, so get good directions. Location is pretty much out in the sticks. Out of the hotel and up the stairs to the left Steinheim can be reached in about 5 minutes. There are some nice restaurants up there, especially if you can sit in the beer gardens. Our local Hanau staff suggested Steinheimer Treppchen and we certainly had an excellent meal there. The hotel lobby provides a useful map.
