The hotel is perfectly situated in Fulda and is only a few minute walk through the baroque gardens to the city center. It is a 10 minute cab ride to the train station.
The staff is attentive and courteous. I personally found the room (we had reserved a Comfort plus room with twin beds) small, altough the room did open onto a very nice size balcony. The rooms open onto an atrium and are served by one elevator. Noise was not an issue. Our room also had a small and outdated (read non-flatscreen) television. The bathroom was decent sized and had a very functional tub wih a hand-shower.
If you stay here you have to go down to the main restaurant in the cellar and enjoy an evening meal. Wow! The setting is wonderful, the food devine and the service top notch. Try to get a reasonable rate where breakfast is included, as the breakfast is so good you will be able to skip lunch.
The pool is also worth visiting and the facilities are off of the lobby and very inviting.
Fulda is only an hour by train or car from Frankfurt and the ideal stop after a long international trip. This hotel is a gem, but can be a bit pricey if you only look at the room-to-rate ratio but when you add inthe extras it becomes a price preformer.
Just one last note. This hotel does not have air conditioning and there were no mesh screens on our windows, which was not an issue in November but beware if you stay in the summer!
