“Good location, good facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Located conveniently opposite main train station (international services and airport services). Has convenience stores nearby. Is a bit of a rough area with sex shops and some shady looking men and women, but i did not feel unsafe. Frankfurt as a city I feel did not have much to offer but the hostel is nice and clean. Good facilities like ensuite dorms, computer room, 24 hour bar, free breakfast, luggage storage and towels etc! Only downside was it seems a bit understaffed for such a big and popular hostel. Had to wait nearly half an hour to check in as only one receptionist with numerous check ins and other enquiries.

“located close to train station, average hostel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

The hostel is located just opposite the train station which is on the one hand very convenient, on the other it means being right in the middle of a VERY dodgy area with sex shops close by and many weird people around and not any nice places where you could go out. The building of the hostel itself is very nice, but the way the rooms are furnished is minimalistic to say the least: the beds are extremely cheap and crappy and the matresses are really bad as well compared to other hostels I've been to. The window of the bathroom/toilet led to our main room which is not practical, convenient at all. The noise from the room nextdoors and even from above was really disturbing and the sleeping quality was therefore low. Breakfast is included and really good, with fresh vegetables and ham, cheese, eggs etc. and part of the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful while the young guy was totally unmotivated and unfriendly. It's a very young hostel with very international audience. During our short stay there we experienced quite a lot of drama going on (1 fight included). Even though I am totally used to staying in hostels, and have experienced some being better others worse, I wouldn't choose this place a second time.

Room Tip: no idea ...single rooms cost 55 €, maybe double or single rooms in the 4th floor are the better opti...

“Good hostel, great location!”

We were recommended this hostel by the Meininger Frankfurt Hostel as they were full. I was so glad they were full as we ended up with a bargain with staying at the Frankfurt Hostel. Not only did we save ourselves 7 euros each for staying here but also this hostel is in the centre of the city. Everything is so close. I would warn you though that the hostel appears to be in the middle of the red light district, but don't let that put you off. My friend and I walked through it at about 10.30pm. I would perhaps recommend not to walk through it on your own, but we felt perfectly safe as a pair.

Off road parking isn't great. You're lucky to get a space on the road and they are timed, but we managed to get away with it. We parked from 7pm-8am without paying or receiving a fine. We walked into the city centre that evening (about 10 minutes) using the map the hostel gave us. Getting around wasn't a problem at all.

We stayed in a 10 bed dorm. Although the room was very basic, it was clean and tidy. You have to make and strip your bed during your visit. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but was suffice for 1 night. I would recommend ear plugs, but only because people arriving late/leaving early may wake you up without them. You can't hear the street or noise outside the rooms. A deposit was needed for the room key card but you got that back (provided you give the room key card back).

The communal area is very social, free WiFi, communal computers if you haven't taken a laptop with you. The guys at reception were so helpful and spoke fluent English. There were lockers in the computer room available with a deposit but you got it back.

Breakfast in the morning was very basic. Cereals, bread rolls, meats, cheese, sliced bread, fruit, fruit juices, tea and coffee. They do have facilities for you to cook if you want to cook yourself anything but you must wash up afterwards.

I would recommend this hostel to anyone wanting to stay with convenience to the city centre.

“Great location, nice common spaces and clean rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

spend a few days at Hostel Frankfurt for business trip. I found it nice, clean and well organized. Staff is well trained to deal with a big number of guests and they helped me to sort out a few practical issues. The Location, right outside the central train station, is ideal for moving around the city and the common areas are pleasant to spend some time and drinking a beer. Good price and definetly a good deal.

“Central and friendly - bed not great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I only stayed here one night but the staff were really friendly and helpful. The backpackers is so close to the metro main station and they give you great instructions of how to catch the train (platform etc) to the airport. My room was really cute and had everything I needed - tv, en suite, but the bed was hard and the pillow a bit lumpy. It's very central but also right in the heart of the red light district. You don't see anything untoward but something you should be aware of. Breakfast was a good variety of things.
