“Tranquillity.....history and modern come together”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

15 minutes from the airport 25 minutes from downtown.
To say this hotel is secluded is an understatement .....frozen in time gone by with the service , resulted in a very relaxing business trip in Frankfurt FEB . 2012.
Normally I stay downtown while attending the Fair .....but the room cost made this attractive ! However you do pay a premium for everything on the property.

Internet is. 25 Euros per day, bottle of water at the gym.....9 Euros.....breakfast .....25. Euros ....get the idea!
But with that said. After a BUSY day a trade show this place is fabulous , nice bar , and the spa. Area is quite unique , indoor pool (large) get are to relax , outdoor heat pool (it was -15) , sauna , it has a , small gym , and massage area is on request ....I lucked out.
Room was dated per other reviews but with that said "......really comfortable and spacious. They have premium rooms which is where you want to stay...modern in all ways.

Found local towns close (taxi 5 euro) good fun restaurants..Frankfurt Huse ....ask the front desk.

I would return in the future under the same circumstances.

Room Tip: Go for the premium room and ask about special rates!Pick from airport is free @ arrivals. A-1 just...

“Great old Grand Hotel definitely needs renovation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed in this hotel on a business trip for the Light+Building in May of 2010. The hotel is built in a prestigious location inside a private forest and a private lake in the outskirts of Frankfurt. The hotel has the class of a classic hotel in combination with a prime location, but the rooms need definitely renovation. The WiFi was available with extra charge, unacceptable for a 5 star hotel with room rates like these. The breakfast was excellent and the staff was kind and helpful. It happened the day we were going to departure our flight to be cancelled due to the Island volcano ashes. The staff was unable to help us find a car or any other alternative transportation.

“Very nice weekend hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Hotel is not far from Frankfurt 15 min by car. Very well mantained, great buffet breakfast. Very calm during night. Great wellnes and spa center. Special treat is outside heated pool.
Rooms are good in size but furniture needs some improvment. All in all very nice place to spend a weekend in beautiful place for resonable money.

“Great hotel, not so great restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Arrived at the airport and went outside to the phone column and called for pickup. A short wait as promised and the driver was extremely nice. About a 15 minute ride. Our room was large, clean and had great large windows that looked out on a park like setting and was very quiet. Great nights sleep. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The lobby area was awesome with many different sitting areas and a really large wood burning fireplace. Across from the fireplace and behind the bar, down a few steps, is a really nice glassed in sitting area looking out on a lake
The main restaurant was very expensive for dinner and not at all what I would have expected. The food was unexceptional and the portions were extremely small. The breakfast buffet was well presented and quite good.
I thought the fact that you had to pay for WIFI @ 6 Euro for an hour and 25 Euro for the day to be excessive and not very customer friendly.
Getting back to Frankfurt for sightseeing can be done by public transport but it involves buses and trains. We opted to take the taxi which was out front of Kempinski. The driver wanted to know what we were going to do in town and we advised we were going to take the tour bus. He tried to talk us into letting HIM take us on a tour for 100 Euro, twice what the tour bus was. When I declined he tried to talk us into letting him take us to the airport the next day…can we say FREE SHUTTLE. When we went past the Christmas Market I asked if that wasn’t where we were supposed to turn and he finally turned a couple streets down. When we went back with a different taxi from the same place the cost was about 5 Euro less which is no reflection on the hotel, just letting the next person know.
