This hotel is ideal for a city break. Within easy walking distance of main square. Really clean rooms if a little small but what stood out was the helpfulness of the ladies on reception. We even had complimentary drinks whilst we waited for our room to be ready even though we were 3 hours early for check in.

The hotel has a very good location in the middle of Sachsenhausen with its narrow cobblestone lanes and small squares with frame houses and fountains and where you find a lot of very nice and unique restaurants and pubs.
The hotel is located also only a short walk from the center of Frankfurt and the main shopping area the Zeil.
The hotel offers standard rooms (some are older but several are renovated) with all amenities and they are very quiet.
The restaurant of the hotel is wellknow for a very good cuisine and the rates are reasonable. The breakfast buffet offered everything your needed.

Having read other reviews and wanting a downtown location at good value, we chose this hotel. The only reason this hotel does not get a "5" rating is because of the quirky requirement to carry bags up some steps to get to the lift and then more steps to get to the room, with the return awkwardness as well. Other than that, the reception was friendly, helpful and efficient, the room was very clean with wonderful linens, and the breakfast (included in the price) was the best we had anywhere. Highly recommended.

I was introduced to the Maingau for it's restaurant. After having an incredible dinner with excellent service I inquired about the hotel. I have now been staying at the Maingau for 9 years as I'm treated like family, enjoy the restaurant and love the ease of getting to the Messe. The hotel rooms are small, very clean and my only compliant is the feather pillows just don't work for me. Yes, they jack up the price for a room during Messe fairs just like every Frankfurt hotel, yet they are more reasonably priced. With no fair...the prices are great! The restaurant is incredible with regard to the food, wine and service...in my opinion they deserve 4 stars!
