I booked my family into this hotel for the weekend just gone - 55 euros for a single, 75 for a double. I specifically said no breakfast was required when I made the booking. It is 5 minutes from my house and seemed nice and clean, which is why I booked it.
The day after checking out my father informed me he had been charged for 3 breakfasts and a drink from the mini bar which he hadn't had (he had 1 but had been charged for 2). The other room I booked for my aunt and uncle had also had breakfast booked against it for 2 people. Yes, they all should have checked when they checked out, but as they checked out at 5 a.m I could not see how they could have been charged for a breakfast which wasn't available until 6 or 6.30, so I decided to pop in and see what had happened.
The man on reception clearly had a problem with me even daring to question why breakfast had been charged for, huffing and puffing and taking his time looking through various folders and his computer. He then claimed that the breakfast is included in the price of the room and in a raised voice asked me to explain what my problem was. I told him there was no need to get aggressive, that it was a simple question that I had asked, but as he was being confrontational that I would never book anyone in there again (I live in Frankfurt and have regular visitors). Combined with the extra drink being charged for and the attitude taken with me I can only assume that these guys are trying to pull a fast one on unsuspecting tourists and being caught out by a German speaking English girl threw them. I was happy to admit that we may have made a mistake, that I may have misunderstood (he didn't go out of his way to explain that breakfast is included, just that 'the computer adds it on') but the guy's confrontational tone and raised voice was unacceptable. Never, ever, ever will I book with them again and I will be informing the local tourist board.
