Breakfast table had organic section, so that was the only good part. The rest was all bad.

On the last day, I had to leave early to catch the train (that is the reason I have stayed at this hotel next to the main station), so when I was settling the bill the night before, I have asked if I can have a packed breakfast to take along or reduce the price of breakfast. The guy said "No problem, we will have a packed breakfast ready for you."

When I was about to leave in the morning, nothing was prepared, the morning shift guy did not know anything about it, (or did not want to do anything even thought there was a message??) I was very disappoited, as the hotel bill comes separated for the room and breakfast, they could have refunded us, but they did not. Well, it is more than money, the attitude is the concern. Are they customer service oriented? Definately NO.

On the web, it says that there is a pc available - yes, there is one lap top at the bar counter, not a very practical spot. There is no lobby to have a seat, the lift is located at the middle of 2 floors, so you have to carry the suitcase through the steps. Room is less than basic, the fridge was so old that I did not want to open it, very old fashioned style.

If you need to stay near the HBF area, go somewhere else, not worth it. When I was there, the renovation was going on and the entrance was so small, I had to be so careful not to touch the paint!

The USP was that it was next to the tube station.
The check- in was smooth a very helpful manager who could advice you on anything and everything. A pre christmas festival was on and he very stongly advised me that was one festival I should not miss and must have warm wine the name was "blumen" or something similar.
The hotel is very well located & connected and provides you a BMW/Merc as a drop & pick up from the airport at normal rates. The food range is however is very limited and serves only fixed breakfast.
Be careful if you are carrying heavy luggage as though there is a lift ; the floors are located 6-7 steps on a higher level or a lower level that the lift
Coming back to the festival it surely was the highlight of this visit. A very traditional affair with franfurters, roasted lotus seeds, spin wheel goodies and fanfare. I was told I was very very lucky to see it. First time I had this warm wine drink and after some time wanted to throw away my jacket at 3 deg celcius , my friend advised me against it !!! .

Third time we spent a weekend at the Cristall. Location and value is hard to beat. The rooms are small, but the beds are good and the bath room is fine. Cleaning is excellent. Some traffic noise must be expected, but not so much that it bothered us. Only two problems: The lobby area is practically non-existent, and with the small rooms, this is not a hotel where you would want to spend some time lounging around with a drink. But there are a couple of more luxurious hotels right by with the amenities for this. The other problem: The breakfast room is not very large, and with a full hotel, and everybody sleeping late in the weekend and having a leasurely breakfast, it was hard to accomodate everybody with a table. Breakfast is very good, though, with a rich selection of cold cuts.

The hotel is an excellent location if you are travelling on budget - 3 minutes walk from the central railway station. The reverse side of this, however, is that it is terribly noisy outside throughout the night, and if you want to get to sleep, make sure you bring some earplugs. I did, and had almost no problem.

My single room was quite small but it had a comfortable bed, a desk and a wardrobe - and what else should you expect from a budget hotel?

The staff are friendly and helpful without going out of their way to please you. On the whole, I found the service quite adequate.

The hotel seems to be extremely popular with residents of other German towns who come to visit Frankfurt at the weekends, so there was hardly enough room for everyone in the small breakfast room on Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast was good but nothing outstanding.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on a budget, especially if you want to be close to the railway service.
